I went out and put 550 rounds through my new Loaded Operator 1911 in just over an hour. I literally loaded and emptied one mag after another. I went through all 550 rounds without a single failure of any kind. This was all done while my brother raced up and down the dirt road behind me on his 4 wheeler stirring up all kinds of dirt. By the time I was done my shooting box, me, the gun, and my jeep were covered in dirt. 500 rounds were S&B 230gr hardball and the other 50 were Remington 230gr Golden Sabers. Here are a few pics of how dirty the gun was when done. Just curious as to why you chose the Operator. Seems like a rather expensive upgrade over a regular 1911 to add that rail, even from a standard SA point-of-view. I might be wrong, I have priced them in the past, but not very extensively. Aside from simply pouring lead through the weapon, how was the accuracy and so-forth? Recoil? And better yet, what are ya gonna use to get all that carbon off the gun? |

Quoted: Would you please show it to us again when the tip of the slide breaks off. [:K] Yes, we have reports and pics of ONE slide breaking on ONE of Springfield's 1911s. I'm sure that nothing bad has ever EVER happened to a Ruger/Glock/Kimber/Les Baer/S&W/Remington/Benelli/Mossberg/Winchester/etc., and that if it did, their reputation would be absolutely tarnished forever [rolleyes] I'm the owner of a Springfield Milspec. I'll put my life in its hands anyday. I've tossed about 600 rounds thru mine, and it just needs a wipe-down now and then. -Gloftoe |

After todays break in this will now be my carry weapon. I've carried my Mil-Spec operator and dont really notice the extra weight on the belt. The price difference wasnt that big of a deal. I paid $719 for it new. The accuracy seemed to be pretty good though I wasnt really there to check the accuracy. I was mainly checking function and breaking it in. I was shooting at a 12x12 board that was about 15 yards out at a rapid pace with no problems. My Brother who doesnt shoot all that often was quite accurate with it also. The trigger is much nicer than any of the other Springfields I have. Very smooth and crisp. I'm extremely happy with this gun. Springfield makes an excellent product. The only reason you hear about the problems with them is because they sell so many. Kind of like the Glock KB issue. The only reason you hear about them is because there are tons of them out in the field. Now that I have the gun broken in I am going to have Springfield do some work to it. I am going to have the front strap checkered 20LPI, S&A 1 piece magwell installed, and have it refinished in Green-T. |

Quoted: Would you please show it to us again when the tip of the slide breaks off. I've seen one case of a slide cracking. That person recieved a new gun and is now very happy. I have to use both hands and feet to count the number of exploded Glocks I've heard of or seen. |
