So I get a call from the Mrs. about 5:15 this evening telling me that our basement is flooded. Seems the water supply line to the dishwasher let go at some point today. Might have been running for 7-8 HOURS.
Now, the basement is where my office, the den, her office, the SAFE and a whole boatload of storage is. Carpet was floating. Got a crew of 3 here drying things out now, but FUCK!!! what a royal pain in the ASS!!! They'll have to rip up a bunch of floor, rip out some walls and ceiling, and take about 5 days drying. FUCK FUCK FUCK. About the only good(?) things are: 1. We rent, so the repair cost isn't on my dime 2. Landlord is pretty cool, so no expected trouble there 3. No real damage, ammo was up off the floor on wood blocks, safe was only wet on the floor. What a pain in the ass. ETA: Oh, and to top it all off, my FIL was at the bank this morning when it got robbed. |

Well, day 8 is here. Only one air mover left.
Half of everything we own is in the pod out front (and it's the most needed half, too). Repair guy came by today to prepare an estimate, that still needs to be approved by landlord's insurer. The Mrs. says to think to myself "It's going to be another 2 weeks", that way when it gets done sooner I'll be happy! Still sucks ass, but they've started using chapstick. Oh, the dishwasher was installed by some dumb ass shit-for-brains Lowe's contract installer. No name, YET. |
