In the last 12 hours I spent: $1600 on two couches. $2300 on a new 13" latex mattress. $600 on a frame to put the new mattress on. $340 on sheets for the new mattress, and to re-sheet my current bed, which will become my guest bed. All because I just bought a new house, and I'm sick of my old hand-me-down (but still comfortable) couch, and now have room for two recliner couches, and my bed is not the awesome cloud of restful delight I thought it would be when I bought it three years ago. |

Wait until you spend $1000 for blinds for three windows. Yes, three. Well, one window is 10 ft. long and real wood blinds are pricey. ![]() This. When I bought my house I had a guy come in to give me a quote on blackout shades for 2 windows and a full lite door. He wanted like $2k to do them as 1 window was pretty big with a half moon at the top. I copied his measurements down and ordered them online for $600 and put them up myself. |

Who talked you into buying and sleeping on a twenty-three hundred dollar sponge? Yeah, OP could have spent a helluva lot less than $2300 on a mattress. You mean this? http://i.walmartimages.com/i/p/00/04/72/97/39/0004729739011_500X500.jpg $39.88 at WalMart.
Plenty of good mattresses well under $1000. Mattresses aren't fucking rockets. Point out ONE study showing those higher priced mattresses offer better sleep. I'll give you a hint. There isn't one. You'd think if they did, and with all the margins & money involved, someone or a group would have funded one to justify & sell expensive mattresses. |

You'd think if they did, and with all the margins & money involved, someone or a group would have funded one to justify & sell expensive mattresses. I'll give you the only one that matters. My experience after sleeping on this one for a month. BY FAR the best night's sleep I've ever had. No pressure point pain. No back pain from being too soft. No shifting around trying to be comfortable (although moving around is very easy.) Just blissful rest. (Disclaimer - I did add a 2-inch memory foam pad to it, but only because I like things a bit softer. That same pad was ineffective at keeping pressure points at bay in my last bed.) I've been buying beds for 35 years, and have had 'em all - water beds, springs, foam over springs, gel over springs, foam over gel over springs, pure memory foam - when this latex mattress one wears out in 8-10 I will buy another one, as there is nothing about it that I would improve. I recommend this one for all the side-sleepers who've been unhappy with their mattress. Worth EVERY penny, and IMHO a bargain at the price (relatively speaking...) You spend a third of your life in bed. Why not spend what you need to spend (in this case about $0.70 a night) to get good sleep? Am I saying that you have to spend that much to get a good mattress? Nope. I'm sure many people are perfectly happy spending $0.10 a night. I could afford this one, and it's a much better investment than the $0.40 a night I spent on my last mattress. |

Quoted: recliner couches? Did you buy a trailer? My living room is 24'x24' The two 7'x4' couches fit quite nicely in an 'L' configuration. (Only one is a recliner. The other is a sleeper.) I suppose I could have gotten one couch and two recliner chairs. Not my choice. I'm sure a quality recliner chair would be very comfy. But the ones in this couch ain't bad. |

If you put silk sheets on the mattress and hook it up to an electrical outlet, you can make your power meter run backwards? My SO has severe back issues... We spent that much on a mattress for her and I would have gladly spent twice that just for the relief it brought her. |

Build a copper coil into a frame that wraps around the perimeter of the mattress, and add some iron filings to the gel... Might be able to power a night light at least! |
