Wow... I was always shy about a pipe as it always looked like an old man's game. Boy was I wrong. I picked up a simple cob pipe at my B&M shop. Opened up the bulk bins and smell'd away. I ended up picking up a few aromatics as they reminded me of my Grandpa's pipe. It was a lot easier to light than I had read on the net. I was a little nervous as I had read a lot of people who had problems with matches.. Let me tell you.. I was instantly wisked back 25 years sitting there with my Grandpa. I can not explain the sensory experience I had but it was fantastic. My Grandpa died 13 years ago.. it was nice to sit with him again. I have never liked flavor'd cigars, but today was a great experience. |

pipe smoking is great. Don't shy away from the English tobaccos. They smell rough in the can but smoke smooth and have a great flavor. I'm glad you reconnected with your Grandpa. It is the strangest thing when i smell a cigar i remember my uncle Mel and he has been gone over 25 yrs. Enjoy and welcome to the world of pipes |

Congrats. Corncobs are supposed to be the best to get started on. I have 4 now. 3 briars and one meershaum. I don't smoke them that much but I love the smell of the tobaccos and I love the pipes. For some reason they are just nice to look at. I admit though I do feel like a goofball smoking them in front of anyone other than my wife though. It does seem sorta old manish. I can see where buying pipes could become an addiction. I am bidding on another one on fleabay right now. Hopefully some rat bastard doesn't snipe me in the last few mins. |
