Benjamin Cardoza. Family originally from Spain, fled to Holland to avoid the Inquisition. DEFINITELY Hispanic. Who appointed him? President Hoover. 1932-1938. But the Hispanics disown him because his family was Jewish. Nice to see the Hispanics are bigots. |

Quoted: I'm hispanic, I don't disown him, never even heard of the guy. Go piss up a rope 88. Uh, you don't know me very well, do you? Look up his (Benjamin Cardoza) Wikipedia entry to see who is disowning him. Capitalization of the word "Hispanic" is proper, are you ashamed? |

Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Dont think family being from Spain qualifies as 'Hispanic'. LMAO. So Austrians are not Germanic? Australians not Anglo-Saxon? Maybe, maybe not... But both (Austrians and Australians) can be 'hispanic'... Yeah, Cardoza is a good Jewish name....NOT! |

Sarcasm is lost on you. Cardoza IS Hispanic. Pull your head out. Not necessarily... This man is 'hispanic': http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/52/Louis_CK_Kuwait_crop.jpg/490px-Louis_CK_Kuwait_crop.jpg His name is Louis Szekely. Names mean fuck all in the phony 'hispanic' definition. Who cares? The man's family is from Spain. If that's not hispanic, what in the world is? |

Names mean fuck all in the phony 'hispanic' definition. From Spain or more properly, from the Iberian Pennisula to include Portugal. Also the Canary Islands. Speaking a Latin-based language (Portugese have a stronger tie here, no Moorish influence). That he not only HAD the name, his family also came from Spain. That he was also of Jewish heritage means NOTHING. There are still Jews living in Mexico from the Inquisition days. Are they also "Not Hispanic"? How about the Mennonites living in Mexico? They are NOT Hispanic but are they also not Mexicans? You are beginning to sound a bit racist. Guess it is another application of the "one drop" rule. |

Dont think family being from Spain qualifies as 'Hispanic'. It shouldn't, but I knew a guy in college getting financial aid for being "hispanic" who was 100% Spanish. Liberals are stupid. Please explain why not. Because hispanic is a term used to identify a so-called "disadvantaged" group - i.e. people of native central or south american ancestry. Someone from Europe shouldn't count. |

I'm hispanic, I don't disown him, never even heard of the guy. Go piss up a rope 88. Umm, not sure who that was posted to, but if it was the OP, you are way off base. Keith is not an 88. And you pretty much just told the smartest person I have ever met to go piss up a rope. You might want to rethink your position. TXL |

Civics FAIL. P.S. He is the reason the Second Amendment has never been incorporated to the states, but let me guess - you don't know what incorporation is either. |

But the Hispanics disown him because his family was Jewish. Nice to see the Hispanics are bigots. Being Catholic is everything. My wifes family are all Catholic but are of Sephardic Jewish ancestry. The stigma was so great in Spain, that they left for the new world and reinvented themselves as Catholics, dropping their Jewish faith. |
|
Quoted:
Dont think family being from Spain qualifies as 'Hispanic'. Under affirmative action guidelines all one needs to be considered "Hispanic" is a Spanish surname. If Mr. Cardoza was alive today and wanted to apply for government affirmative action assistance he would be eligible to receive it. I had a friend by the name of Diaz, of pure Spanish heritage, and he parlayed affirmative action for all it was worth during his tenure as a mid ranking government employee. |
|
Quoted:
Dont think family being from Spain qualifies as 'Hispanic'. They were the original Hispanics. Mexicans are acutally more indian than spanish. The Spaniards left their mark with with their culture. But to say the Spanish are not Hispanic is like saying the Swedes are not Scandinavian. |
|
Quoted: Quoted: Dont think family being from Spain qualifies as 'Hispanic'. That is the stupidest statement I have ever heard. The Man's family left spain 500+ years ago. They were in America prior to the revolution. If that is the standard for 'hispanic' then nearly everybody can claim 'hispanic', because I bet if we start digging in nearly everybodies family trees we will find somebody that is 'hispanic' as in 'somewhere near spain, or its colonies'... Claiming Cardozo as hispanic simply because his name 'sounds spanish' is pathetic. |

Yes the whole Hispanic special treatment is stupid. My wife's uncle who was born in Mexico has a girl friend from Spain. Using their logic, she is Hispanic. Trouble is she is a blue eyed blond. I think some of that Germanic influence might be showing from earlier times! |

Admiral David Farragut Was he Hispanic ?? ![]() http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Farragut |

Definitely. |

Interesting, I didn't know that. He is at least as hispanic as Gov. Richardson |
