relax, relax, relax

rule number 1, don't get excited!

If you hit a bull, don't get excited.

If you hit the dirt in front of the target, don't get excited.

Stay calm.

Ditto on the previous, and don't fixate on the last shot, concentrate on the next shot.  Just remember the basics that you've been taught, be safe, and treat your first match like the learning experience that it is.  Good luck!

Don't miss.

Seriously though, Garand Shooter pretty much said it all.  Just remember, its all in fun, and if you don't do well, don't sweat it, there IS a next time.  I do tactical matches with subguns - one of my first times out, I got overly excited in the shoot house and dropped about a 7rd burst into the A zone of a no-shoot/good guy that popped out on me.  Oops.  Yeah, I was a bit embarassed, but what the hell; live and learn.  Next time though, I learned better to keep my cool and didn't whack any no-shoots.
