AR15.COM

I don't know if anyone else has run into this recently, but just in the past few days I've noticed a problem occurring when opening AR15.com in Firefox. I open a forum and then open individual threads as new tabs, but everytime I do so Firefox freezes up for five to ten seconds. It's not just the new tab that's hung up, but the whole program, no matter how many screens I have open or how many tabs. It's only in Firefox and not in IE8.

Anyone else seeing this?

I have been running Firefox for two years without a hitch on ARFcom.

Nope, not having that problem. The only one I am having is if I have multiple tabs open and I click on one, sometimes it will open another new window with the tab I clicked on.

I've been getting slowdowns with FF3.5, have to kill the process and restart about once a day. Hopefully this will be resolved next time they do a bugfix release otherwise I might go back to 3.0 for a while.

I had that problem when loading page 33 of the "You Ain't See Bad Yet" thread today.  Blocking Ar15.com with NoScript fixed the issue and once I had closed that tab I was able to un-block Ar15.com and continue browsing.  If run into this freezing problem again, go to your Task Manager and kill the firefox.exe process.  Open firefox back up and it should ask you whether you want to restore your previous session.  Restore the session, then immediately close one Ar15.com tab.  Repeat until you figure out which tab is screwing you up.  Install NoScript (blocks scripts, not ads) and block Ar15.com if you want to read that page.

No problems with Firefox here. The only browser I've tried that had a problem with Arfcom was Chrome.

Yes it has been happening quite frequently with Firefox and Opera on my machine except it will only freeze (arrow turns to the thinking icon) for 5-10 seconds then its fine.  Seems to happen the most when i scroll up or down a page.  Seems to do it on other forums too.

I'm running the new version of Firefox (on a Mac) right now.  And I'm getting sporadic (2-4 seconds) freezes on any webpage.

no real problem for me running FF on a mac.  I changed some of the advanced setting for piplining a few months ago when there was a post and it helped the speed at that time.

Yes, I had that issue with ALL websites on the last version of FF, it's was annoying enough to force me to a new browser.

The new version fixed that particular problem, but now it has a memory leak, will eventually suck up all resources, and have to be put down manually, like the rabid dog pos it is.

Firefox has been lagging lately. When I open Firefox up in the morning it takes for ever to open up. AR15.com hangs up as well...

Do you have caching turned off or something? You might try typing "about:config" in the address bar, then search for "cache." Make sure the disk cache and memory cache are both enabled.

This.

Or clear your cache and defrag?

Or you have a broken dll - maybe another program install/uninstall broke it.

Maybe a gamma ray changed a '0' to a '1' on your HDD somewhere.

Kill it with fire, buy a new one.  It's the only way to be sure.
