I'd probably invite them if it were me. If they don't come, you can take the high road and use this as ammo later on when they are dumping on you. If they do come, you have a chance of putting some of the bullshit behind you.
Everyone deals with grandkids differently. Some grandparents want to take over and some like to step away and let the parents manage themselves. I don't know all the details or why they were not there for you. All you can do is reach out to them. After they smack your hand too many times, then accept it for what it is and leave them alone. Live your life and be happy without them in it. It's their loss. Life is just too short for such bullshit. BTW––I have told both my kids (both teenagers) that I have changed my last shitty diaper. And, when they have kids, I would love to see them, but don't count on Grandpa as a babysitter. Flame suit on!!! |
