I stopped by Walmart tonight to pick up some ammo. I get to the sporting goods area and see that there is no associate around to open the locked cabinet. I hang out for a few minutes to see if one materializes and during that time, another man shows up also wanting ammo. Nothing after 5 or so minutes, so I decide to walk over to electronics to ask the cashier there to page someone to sporting goods and then I walk back over to wait. I hear the page come across, and I wait. Nothing. Wait a little more. Nothing. So I walk back over to electronics and ask them to page again. As I'm walking back to sporting goods for the second time, I see the guy who usually works in sporting goods coming out of the back of the store. His name is Tim. Tim knows me, I know Tim. I say to Tim "Hey there! There are a few of us who need ammo over in sporting goods. Glad you're here!" He says in a very indignant tone something about having just come on shift. I made a light hearted comment about how he is the man with the keys to the castle and he unexpectedly spins around and says "What did I just say...I just got on shift and don't have the keys!" I wanted to lay into this SOB and tell him that I'd been standing around his department for 15 minutes waiting for service, that I'd had someone paged to his department not once but twice and that if they were going to lock up their merchandise, SOMEONE needed to be in the department at all times with the keys, otherwise, he's going to have people chasing him down before he even gets logged into the register. But I just smiled and bit my tongue. He reaches under the counter to grab the envelope that is apparently where the key is supposed to be kept. It's not in there. He rolls his eyes and says something about having to go get the key. He disappears for a couple of minutes and when he returns, he says "Ok, who's first" in a tone that clearly indicates that we're bothering him. Again, I bit my tongue. I got my ammo and left.
Where the hell has customer service with a smile gone. And yes, I expect it even at Wal Mart. CSB and all that shit. |
I can top that. Some buddies (arfcom member included) decided we wanted to try to go dove hunting on one of our days off. Now this may have been the night before while drinking and playing some CoD but I digress. We walk in to a Wally World at four in the morning because I needed some shotgun shells to ensure I had enough and they needed licenses. NO ONE would sell us a license because "the person who knows how to fill them out doesn't come in until six." Seriously? Its listed what info goes where. We even tried to explain to them that its very straight forward and could walk them through it (most places have you fill it out yourself anyways). They responded that they didnt want to lose their jobs because they were not allowed to do that.FU Walmart

hell at my walmart they took out 2 isles and expanded automotive... we have 1 isles with ammo and crap and another one with fishing gear. thats it. and last time i was in, one of the ammo cases was broke so they shoved everything into one case and were pretty much out of everything. i only buy there when i am in a hurry and dont want to wait on my shipment. good thing there are few other places to get ammo. i normally stop at buckeye outdoors or shop online when there is free or cheap shipping. |
| If you have a problem with your service complaint it's the only way it's going to get fixed. It wouldn't have been the first time I complained to a store manger about a lack of service. In high school I worked at a grocery store so I know what it feels like when people complain about your lack of service, I only complain if it's really bad and ignore the petty shit that most customers complain about. |
I usually fail to bite my tongue.
On the flip side, if you write a polite email to Wally Customer Service, they WILL respond and they WILL make it right. They have exeptional customer service at the corporate level and don't take too kindly to this type of shit. |
| Why we still give wally world our ammo and gun money boggles my mind. Do we really need to save that $2 per box for shitty service, wait times, and a huge importer from China? I don't. So fuck wally world, my dollars have been going to gunshops or sporting goods centers for the past year and I don't mind it one bit paying a few bucks more. |

You are living in a fantasy land. ![]() Actually, when I need to go to a Walmart, I drive an hour to one where the people there (employees and patrons) are friendly, polite, and don't smell like they haven't bathed in a week. The female employees refer to me as "Hun" or "Darlin' ", and the male employees refer to me as "Sir", that's why drive that far to go to a Walmart whenever a trip there is required, instead of the one 10mins away and the other one 25-30 minutes away. |
| They are just understaffed, it makes tension everywhere. Having one person at most at any time with the key and a dozen other keys and things to answer to makes the employees tense and of course they anticipate it before the start of their shits. Right up until the point where they don't give a damn anymore. I worked in retail years ago and would come in for the day right into situations like that where the customer would begin complaining about waiting for a half hour or even more sometimes. The only thing going through my mind was you're the dumb ass for waiting that long. But the key to it is to get them what they were waiting for, don't apologize and keep the rapport to a minimum. Basically get 'em out quick, sure some will want you fired anyways and tell management how miserable their shopping experience was. But management does not want to fire and rehire, they hate that more than anything including being even more short handed for the day or so it'd take to find another replacement. |

Wally world sucks for many reasons (the parking lot and people you have to interact with alone deserve another thread...) but the gun and "sporting goods" stores around here are a lot more expensive and often don't have what I want. I order most of my ammo, magazines and ... pretty much everything other than groceries from online vendors. Gets shipped to my office so I don't have to deal with the general fuckwittery of the retail world and its inhabitants. Saves me both time and money. |

shit like that gets you fired around here... id have spoke to a manager.. prolly could have gotten a discount too ;) And that is the problem, the customer didn't do what he should have done which was to go find the manager and lodge a complaint about the very poor service and attitude of the employee. If the manager never hears it, nothing can be fixed. If you want good service and expect good service, follow thru is a must. At least in a resturant, you can reduce or not tip at all for good service and the server actually sees the result of their poor service ke last night, she sucked, the food was cold [sat to long because she wasn't paying attention to when it came up], she upcharged me for a bowl of soup as a side because she didn't listen when I told her that was the side I wanted and not the nacho chips, she would just disappear for far to long without checking tables, when trying to check out, she finally showed up with the bill and then never came back for 10 minutes, I finally left the money with the check on the table, left a 50 cent tip for a $30 meal and walked out, I'll go by and speak with the manager today, I do NOT expect poor service at this place and it should be taken care of. |

Yes it is very frustrating
They want to sell us sporting goods,–––––– but they sort of don't Out of the 5 or 6 wall marts in my general area all but one have the typical bad selection and bad service. There is one that is wonderful with great selection and the couple of guys who run the sporting goods are terrific Strange thing is this wall mart was set up in an old supermarket and has a marginal parking lot and is quite a bit smaller than all the other local wall marts. They even stock some reloading supplies |

A few weeks ago my wife and I stopped to get a few things. AS we were walking around I decided to pick up some adult beverages for the weekend. As we get to the register and started unloading the clear looks at me and asked for my drivers licence at which point I lay it on the table, then she looks at my wife and wants hers too, something I sort of remember....but since we left the house together she didn't bring her purse. SO they refused to sell us our beverages. I'm married and have my daughter in my arms yet we cannot buy alcohol because some one I'm starting in line with doesn't have a licence on them.
This of course prompted the question why didn't they ask for my daughters drivers licence? The clerk said it depend on how old she is. So I asked what the cut off is and do I need a licence to prove she's over/under the cut off. At that point my wife intervenes as I was clearly getting the clerk all riled up. |
