Looks like none after the 187 or so built and stopping production in 2010.  Figured Obozo would kill mil programs. If they used the 700 billion bailout money to fund they could have something like 4.200 F-22s. Guess we now know what he is up to now. WJ

The press I'm reading on this is Gates is behind the trimming and is focusing on the F-35 development instead. Seems like a reasonable choice to me. The JSF has all the capabilities on the F-22 and VTOL to boot in some configs.

Am I wrong?

In a fight, the F-22 can clean the JSF's clock any day of the week.  The flight performance of the JSF is on par with an F-16 or F-18, and the F-22 has shown it can make quick work of 5-8 of them at a time without breaking a sweat.  The limiting issue is running out of ammunition & stores.  The JSF's advantages are that it's got stealth and is light years ahead of generation 4 & 4.5 aircraft in electronic capabilities.  The F-22 scares the living shit out of every air force on the planet because it's got it all.

Here's the rub... now that we're fielding the F-22, other countries have started to develop stuff to "counter" it, so if we don't field it completely (continue building them), it doesn't mean that other countries will stop developing/procuring aircraft to defeat it.  Kind of like how we developed the F-15 Eagle.  It was developed to fight a Russian "superfighter" that turned out to not be a fighter at all... the MiG-25 Foxbat.  Once we figured out that it was just an interceptor, we didn't pull the plug on the F-15 and instead, fielded the greatest air superiority fighter of the 20th century.  The Russians were like this...  "FUUUUUUUUCK!"
