Does anyone know what the loadout specifications are for the Secret Service's P90s?  Like what brand & model of optics, slings, & suppressors they use.  I want to configure mine in a similar manner.

Do you have a full auto SBR PS90?

If so post pics

Edit: Beans or no beans?

9mm or .45? or 5.7x28?

IIRC, They used the P90 USG with the FN top rail, M68 CCO, Insight light, Internal stock laser (not sure if visible or IR), FN rails on either side of the sight tower, and the factory FN P90 sling.

Not sure which other accessories were authorized.

I don't know if they have the internal cleaning kit or oil bottle.

I'm sure they still use a few of them, but from what I've read and seen, the standard loadout is to leave it in the armory.

The built-in optic is trash, and it's pretty lacking past 100 yards, but they're kinda fun.

I'd never pay money for one now that ultra-compact AR15s exist, but 10-15 years ago it certainly had some advantages.

Did the DSS and USSS not have access to the Mk18 10-15 years ago?

I don't know what their decision criteria was, but...

Mk18 still uses a full-length CAR buffer and has a full-weight handguard (KAC RIS).  They also mostly had FSBs at the time, and you're talking about a 27-28" rifle that weighs 6.5lb or more before you even put optics/accessories on it.

The P90 is half a foot shorter and a pound lighter.  Add ammo to both guns, and you get 50rd in the P90 for no added bulk, or 30 in the Mk18 and the gun becomes much taller.

I'm not saying the Mk18 is bad in any way, but the P90 is much easier to tuck beneath a suit coat - as one example, if that's something you'd want to do.  And using the same weapon when you're in a tactical uniform as you do low-profile...  I dunno, there's some sense there.

I don't know anything about the SS, so this is just conjecture, but I can see why they'd choose one over the other at the time.

But now that you have lightened LMOS components, short buffer tubes, ultra lightweight freefloat handguards...  When you can make an AR15 that weighs 5.5lb or less and is still a fully capable rifle...  I think a lot of (perhaps not all) of the P90s advantages start fading a bit.

But again, I just shoot the things at paper and steel.  I don't have to carry it all day long.  I'm sure the SS knows what they're doing.

I'm sure this was a major plus for them. A subgun round, 50rds in something very low profile.

Previous to this weren't they using 9mm MP5s and or Uzis? I wonder what event or perceived new threat made them go to a similar sized weapon with different terminal performance characteristics.

I hate to bust your bubble being that its your first post and that you actually bought a PS90.............

I count two friends and several current customers who are current or recently retired USSS. All have served on protective details at one time or another. Not a one carries or carried a PS90.  The Knights Armament AR is what they typically train with and will carry when the situation dictates.
