Not surprised. The server has always been kept together with bailing twine & duck tape. Seems to be running now.
I joined in early 2000 (#1702). Was a nice place during the golden age of FAL building. Then the scandals started and the egomaniacs took over & I stopped spending time there. I got my FALs built & since I've stopped by occasionally & nothing much had changed or was happening. |

I have noticed it is always slow as shit and I will even get the busy server message quite frequently. Maybe its time for an upgrade? |

I must have joined really early to get #381...ha ha I have been recently going back to Falfiles to look at M14 postings. Have not had any issues getting on, maybe I just pick the off peak hours. |

FALaholic #113 here. I was around on the old Blue Board a lot but I have a very low post count there.....
I don't know what happened to Ted Dannemiller..and poor Jen, she's been through the wringer at that place....I wonder how she's doing...... Does anyone remember Simon Jester on the old board? |

I just noticed but why were you looking at "tits up" images? |

Falfiles Forum is a disaster.
Check out these forum stats: Forum Software is dangerously out of date Falfiles forum uses vBulletin Version 2.2.6. The current version of vBulletin is 4.0. They are too cheap to upgrade the board to avoid database issues and known hacking issues that expose all their members details to exploits. Server is overloaded Page generated in 21.630 seconds (1.08% PHP - 98.92% MySQL) with 14 queries. It took close to 22 seconds to bring up one page and check the close to 99% database use. |

Thats too bad. Every time I go there I get at least one error message telling me the server is overloaded and I need to refresh the page. |
| Part of the reason I stopped going to the Files was the slow times and the bandwidth thing. Another thing was the calling out of people who were not contributors, but some of sent money that were never recognized. Now the site is a shell of its former greatness. I loved the Files, and a lot of the people over there but enough was enough. I visit now and then, and it is a sorry specimen of what it could be. Is Jen still the owner? |

I have been trying to navigate it all morning and I keep getting the error message saying the server is overloaded. All I am trying to find is the thread discussing the paint codes for rhodesian camo. Dupont Centari Automotive Industrial Paint:
Forest Green-DS166A Yellow/Green-YS432A http://www.bozemantrailarms.com/rifle_pics/rhodiefals.jpg Thats exactly what I want to do. How did you paint it? Brush, sponge, ? How much paint did it take? |

OOOOH. Wonder what they are "upgrading"?
DOWN FOR UPGRADES The board will be down for 12-24 hours while we do a full site backup and perform software upgrades. The sky is not falling. This is not a test. Updates will be posted here as they are available. DO NOT Keep hitting your refresh button as it won't get you on to the site any faster. The AKFiles Forums are online at AK Files Forums Users are welcome to register at AK Files while we're working on upgrading the forums. |

No forum software upgrade apparently. V2.2.6 is over 9 years old. |
