I have a '65 Chevelle SS.  Unlike the car on Ebay, mine actually has the original numbers-matching engine, transmission and rear axle, but since it's red and not black, I'll take half of what this guy is asking.  Better act fast though, I expect the offers to come rolling in.

If the car sells in the next 24 hours I'll include an extra set of tires, and a nice hat.

Nice, but not 400k nice. I'd probably lose my license real quick if I got back into something like that.

That's a nice car, but it seems to me he's asking for original condition money for a restoration.

Not that I'm some kind of expert on high dollar classic cars, but $400K buys a hell of a lot of classic car.

who knows what its worth.

lots of documentation but its not a numbers matching car.

emperor's clothes if you ask me.

some folks are paying upwards of 30+ million for some ferraris (some GT cant remember the exact one).

meh.. i just dont understand.

buy a new ford 500 gt, convert it to run e85, put on a bigger pully. 800hp very easy to make.

i get 300hp at the wheels on a 2.0l subaru on e85 and nothing has been done to the motor. just bigger exhaust, turbo, intercooler, injectors and a tune. thats a 2.0l motor, tripple that for an engine approaching 6.0l and tell me what you come up with...

Nice car, well done. I love that era of GM A bodies (used to own a 66 Skylark, girlfriend has a 67 Special.

Instead of a 1 of very few car, I would rather have a clean, straight 6, granny model and use less then 1/2 of what that guy is asking to build a monster of a Chevelle.

Never, ever, ever let anyone borrow your car.

Not even if they're part of your own family.

Seriously.

In my family, the accident rate is almost 100 percent of the "friend borrowed the car" rate.

Not kidding.

You'll never touch the torque though.............. or MPG.  + it's diesel so it'll run good when SHTF.

Stolen from the article;
To understand why anyone would commit to such an unorthodox engine swap requires nothing more than glancing at the stats. At 950 hp and 1,700 lb-ft of torque, Mike has more than tripled the output of a stock LLY Duramax, which is rated at 310 hp and 605 lb-ft from the factory. The Chevelle even knocks down 32 mpg. Despite such staggering figures, the engine combo is surprisingly simple.

Spitting image of the one my best friend in high school had.  A couple years after we graduated (1978) he sold it some local kid for $500.  He's still kicking himself, and I kick him every chance I get.

Hey, if you can get as much for a car as a good example of a Superbird brings at a Barrett Jackson auction, then it MUST be

a very good car.   Very good for the bank account, at the very least.

Just a few days ago I found that there's a guy who's keeping a Superbird in a big plastic bubble in his shop.  Needless to say,

it's in beautiful condition.    The bubble is dusty but the car is pristine.

Wow, I remember and participated in the Raffle he is referring to. The engine story is very interesting. If that is an original Z16, the price might be on the conservative side. There were only 201 big block chevelles in '65. They have heavy duty frames, suspension components and such. There are some unique interior items and several hand made trim parts that were never reproduced. It is one of the rarest and most desirable muscle cars.

I have a '65 Malibu SS (327cid) and I would love to have a Z16.
