My boys, 5 and soon to be 7, have been relentlessly after me to take up archery. I thought it was just a passing interest, but they’ve persisted for months. Turns out, my wife has always been interested, too. So, there was but one thing to do: Attached File We all got new bows! Two Mathews Arcs, mine being the 34 and hers being the 30, and two Hoyt Kobalts. Hers is still at the shop, as he’s putting a different mod in it, and had to order it. I used to shoot league about 20 years ago, and always enjoyed it. It was costly, but I’m looking forward to being able to do something else as a family. That’s priceless, in my opinion. Also, man what a difference this bow is when compared to my 2004 PSE

The time spent with your family is worth more than the money this trip cost. Look as it an investment in your boys. You get to spend time with them doing something they enjoy, and they gain a skill. I am glad to see you value them enough to spend the time and money for them (and yourself). |

I waffled on the purchase for a hot second, before I stopped and really thought about it. I have two boys and a wife who want to spend time slinging arrows with me. Some guys would kill for that, so why is it even a consideration? It’s not. |

Damn some nice bows in there OP, I love going to the range with my son but he needs an upgrade on his end. I may have to check out one of those Hoyt’s for him. Do you have any nice ranges by you or will you be shooting around the house. I can get a solid 20 yards shooting into my garage. I could get more outside but living in the suburbs I’m not too comfortable with using a fence as a backstop. For anyone interested in archery it’s a ton of fun. Edit: just saw your post above, sounds like a dream setup for having fun with the family. |

We’ll definitely be doing the majority of our shooting on our property. I will also probably end up joining a local club, for access to an indoor range in the winter. There’s one about 20 minutes away, and it’s only $125 a year for a family. |

Got my 20 yard pin pretty dialed in. I won’t be winning any competitions with that by any stretch of the imagination, but I’ll take it after not shooting a bow for many years: Attached File I did have several pass throughs with my old target, so it’s time to upgrade that too: Attached File I forgot how much fun this is. I can’t wait for my boy’s birthday on Saturday and I get to give him his. His brother, too. My wife picks hers up Saturday too, so I guess it’s just going to be one heck of a day

I got out of regular archery 10 years ago due to a bad shoulder and I miss it. I'd love to shoot a couple new bows to see how the tech has evolved. Bought my wife a Mathews ladies bow and she enjoys it here and there. Daughter is 7 and nowhere near ready to be trusted. When she is ready I'll probably buy myself a new low poundage compound so we can all shoot together as well. I'd love to get back into 3--D shoots, especially the ones that are a course in the woods. So fun. |

Yea.... I know the pain of walking into a great bow shop with an old Bear Whitetail II and dropping a boatload of cash on a new Mathews, arrows, QAD Ultra, Boss Hog, G5's and mechanical broadheads, stabilizer, hand straps....... My God...what a difference. Shoots fast as hell and like a laser beam. Whizzes arrows through deer like theyre not even there and Im shooting 60 lbs at most.. Inside of 35 I cant shoot at the same target spot as Ive destroyed alot of arrows. |

AGAIN!!!?" My bow shop had my new Mission bow all set up and arrows made. We went back to their 20 yd range to make sure everything was gtg. My 3rd arrow broke my second arrow. Shop guy was, no problem we can sell you more lol. Freaking expensive arrows were the main reason I put together a Ruger 22/45 and a can. Elk hunting we always shot grouse with a judo point and broke a lot of arrows. |

If you think Bow technology has improved go check out some arrows at Lancaster. I had been shooting Maxima 350's for the last 15 years. I decided I was ready to try new things so I ordered a dozen Easton FMJ. Holy Cow they are pencil thin and hit the target like a truck. Super happy with the arrow upgrade Irish |

You have a start on a league team with the 4 of you. A friend found all kinds of archery games he and his kids could shoot on their 1.5 acres. It got the kids excited and made them very good. |
