A friend of mine's son is fixin to graduate from the academy and needs some equipment. Since I have access to some related stuff at decent pricing, I was asked to source it. He asked for a 26" ASP baton (no problem), but should I get him the airweight model? Needs a holder/holster, need recommendations. Also, he needs pepper spray and holder/holster, need recommendations for both. Thanks in advance and if I haven't said it enough, "I love you guys!". |

I prefer the steel one, ASP makes one that is lightweight and I'm not sure if its aluminum or what, but I've bent two of them. I'm still on the first steel one that I've owned. Its a bit heavier, but worth it. ASP makes a pretty good holder that swivels or rocks so it adjusts when you sit down. Thats what I would recommend. Also, he needs pepper spray and holder/holster, need recommendations for both. The holders are all pretty much the same, it just depends what size he is going to carry, Check Bianchi, Blackhawk, other brands. Also it will have to match everything else on his belt––nylon or leather or basketweave Thanks in advance and if I haven't said it enough, "I love you guys!". |

The airweight is more of a "just in case" version, and has been known to bennd under extreme use. For OC? Fox Labs. |

just my opinion and previous experience,
i carried the dept issued asp baton (the non airweight).. this is heavy and left a good "mark" when used (hint hint)... more months and years on?... belt gets heavy.... i then tried to lower my sam brown weight by carrying the "airweight" version... when used? didnt leave a good "mark" i went back to carrying the heavy one... i think the "airweight" kind is for "court" appearance type or for the administrators or supervisor equipment..who "might" use their batons "just in case" when i got my taser? i took off my OC... yhe asp can be used to move stuff from the ground n searchin bushes.. no more need for that pepper scented spray.... ......just my opinion my brothers n sisters.... just an opinion... be safe out there.... watch yur six! |
