Yesterday, I suddenly started getting errors sending email via SMTP to mail.ar15.com.  I'm receiving email via the POP server fine.  Anyone else having issues?

Troy: A quick run-down on e-mail protocols:

POP3 works between you and your mailserver (i.e. between Outlook Express and mail.ar15.com) to bring mail to your mail app. It is a RECIEVING protocol

SMTP works between mailservers, and from the mail app to the mailserver. It is a SENDING protocol

So a SMTP error is a one of 2 things:

1) There's a problem with mail.ar15.com that prevents your mail proggie from sending outbound mail. This will generate a dialog-box (click OK to continue) style error

2) There is a problem with the other guys mailserver which prevents it from accepting mail for delivery. This results in you getting 'SMTP Error' e-mails.

Niether of these will effect your POP3 access, as this is a separate system for retrieving (NOT sending) mail...

-------------

P.S. Sorry if you knew this allready, but in case you didn't it should help you understand your problem...

Right, and that was my point; my email program is still able to log into the server and RETRIEVE my incoming mail, but it is not able to deliver outgoing mail to be sent out.

Is the 'My Server requires Authentification' box still checked?  (I had a problem with this a while back, somehow it unchecked itself and I had the same 'send' failures.)

[s]If not that, are both incoming & outgoing Pop/SMTP set at: 'mail.ar15.com'?[/s] Re-read your original post.

Yes to both.  It was working fine until Monday morning.  I got a time-out error sending an email, but it re-tried and whet through the second time.  The next email I sent errored out, and I haven't been able to send anything since.
