So, i may get a shot to go to EOCA later this year, anyone got any bits of wisdom for me?  I dont want anything that violates OPSEC, even just PMed, but if anyone has any suggestions, tips, tricks, experiences or anything like that that is cool to post or PM, please do.  I'm really looking forward to it if i get the chance!

How new is this? I got out in 04 and this is the first time I have heard of it. I was a 21B. All I can say is it is about time they did something like this.

the earliest i've found any info on it was dated '05, and you're right, its been a long time coming.  There really needs to be a middle ground between highly-trained EOD and minimally trained 21Bs.  I'm confident in my ability to get the job done now, but knowing what you're doing and making shit up that sounds about right is a big difference!  I'm psyched!

We are going to send a few E4s and E5s, other than that, I don't know much more. Good luck, it is very academic intensive as I understand.

Tough course.  I think we had about a 50 percent pass rate for the 10 Sappers I sent before we deployed last year.

Great capability to have in the Sapper PLT though.  I

My psg and one of my SLs went before we deployed.  Very study intensive.  These dudes were certainly intelligent and they were busy every night studying and probably much of their non-class time was busy the same way too.

It was good knowledge for them to have and it helped increase the technical knowledge among our guys by quite a bit with respect to proper explosives disposal and handling freeing up our EOD TL to deal with the more significant stuff.

First rule and second rule of being a Live Combat Engineer, good to go on that!
