State your opinion, if you like. Left Cold http://www.myfoxdfw.com/myfox/ |
They would be fine if they would just play music. Their opinion of world politics has not more weight than mine does. You go to opening your mouth, and WOW, some folks are pissed off. This is one more instance of the Hollywood types rigging the ballot for their candidate.

oh well c'mon you've got to take the whole "awards ceremony" with a grain of salt here. i mean the record companies buy the award for whoever needs a boost in sales. it's not the "Grammys" it's the "This Music Blows Goats and This is the Only Way People Will Buy It". just my .02 jake

I didn't even like the Dixie Chicks music before the remarks so they weren't getting any monetary support from me to begin with. On top of that I never watch the grammys because of how agenda-driven it is, the industry votes based on politics more than the quality of the music often times. That being said, who cares what the dc's think about politics? They're just entertainers voicing uneducated opinions. It's like being concerned with what an office clerk says about nuclear physics. This controversy just gets them more press. |

When all they did was sing they were ok but at what point did they think that I wanted to know what they thought about the war or anyfucking thing else. Just play your little songs and entertain me. Let the real important people do the thinking. Why is it that when entertainers get big they think people give a shit what they think! I change the channel when they come on the radio |
How was the 'ashamed president bush is from texas' line ignorant in the least? He is from Texas, we have to assume she is ashamed, so what was ignorant or non factual? You may not be ashamed, but she is and she has every right to voice her opinion just as much as you do. The only difference is that when one of the Dixie chicks voiced her opinion, she had a microphone in front of her face and people thought she was important enough to listen to. You may not agree with the statement, but it isn't ignorant or stupid. Boycott all you want, but be honest- it wasn't an ignorant comment. I never really listened to the music. One of them is pretty freaking hot though. -Local |
It could reasonably be called "ignorant" due to the setting and context in which it was delivered. If it was at a political rally featuring DemocRATS and Rosie O'Donnell it would have been perfectly appropriate. They were being paid to sing at the time. I doubt if anyone cared if they were embarrassed or ashamed or butt-sore over the President being from Texas. THAT was an inappropriate, ill-timed, impertinent, and silly comment to make--doubly so as it didn't fit anything going on. I saw the video and the fat ugly one just suddenly ran to the microphone and blurted out the words--very incongruous and odd. Ignorant even.

It was in England. When it comes to anti-Bush and Iraq war sentiment, it's not to far off from a Democrat rally. She got some applause when she said it to, so I don't think the crowd was ready to walk out because she said something in between songs. It may have been stupid, but it wasn't ignorant. It fit the setting and the crowd. Hell, they may have needed something to occupy the crowd while something was changed for the next song. She was stupid for forgetting that anything you say outside of the US can and probably will be used against you when you get back. -Local Edit- formatting and spelling |
I agree 100% Why do celebs think they know anything/everything. Actually, the more they open their mouths the more ignorant they sound. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, if I want theirs I'll ask, Thanks. |
| No suprise, as it's generally considered that the voters for the Grammys are avowed libs, and this was a way to reward them for the "tough" time they have experienced............it was a political statement, and not a testament to their musical prowess. Funny thing is I heard alot of former Dixie Cunts fans say on the radio this a.m. that they would not be buying anymore albums due to Natalie Maines arrogance on stage............that, and her thumbing her nose at country music fans and the industry for a percieved slight against her fat ass, and her alienating those fans...........country radio will never again play their music, the CMA will never give them any awards ever again, and eventually this will haunt them down the road...........funny that you can win best album of the year and have your album top at #36 on the charts........the other two chicks looked thoroughly embarrassed |
