Last year when I was at Disney FL. they were doing this so called "bone scan" to enter the parks. This Bone scan for those that don't know, supposable measured your bone length when you place your two fingers into a machine while making a peace sign. This is to make it more secure for you that no one could use your ticket to get in. (Even though I paid for the ticket and should be able to give it to anyone I wish to.) This year I did not go to the main theme parks but instead went to the water park, Typhoon Lagoon to be exact, using the left over day on my ticket from last year. Well now instead of placing my two fingers on the peace sign machine, I now had to place my index finger on it, so the machine could take my biometric signature. WTF? |

Not seeing how this is a "Police State" threat at all. Disney is a private enterprise, and these are the rules they have established, along with a fee, for entry to their park. Do it or don't. All new technologies are resisted. Your DL, if it doesn't already, will be "smart". You'll be able to pay for RFID stuff just by walking out a certain door or path. I could go on and on. If things like this are ever used in an attempt to control a "free" people, revolt will likely result. Short of this possible revolt, we are left with one result: crippling and disturbing levels of convenience. The horror. |

Anyone seen that commercial with the family going on and on about a Disney Vacation being very affordable? Then they state that the vacations start at $2000! I would hate to see the price on the premium package. For me an affordable vacation is $500 taking the family to Six Flags for a weekend or a week off at a free place....like a beach. A vacation that takes thousands of my dollars creates stress and worry which makes the vacation useless. |
No disrepect intended in this post but there is no such thing as a free place and the beach is so far from free its ridiculous. Food, lodging, entertainment (can't just sit on the beach the enitre time according to your family), shopping(wife's),and gas (driving to the food, entertainment and shopping). By the time you add it all up you will be paying as much or more for a Disney vacation. A major part of my job is driving and it's very hard to find a vacation where I don't have to drive. Oh yeah, cruises are out as I hate the ocean and third world countries but not in that order. Six days at DW for two: including passes(park hopper, waterparks & Pleasure Island), lodging, transportation in the park, and food will run around 1852.78. That is during peak season so the price drops almost $40 a night for off-peak. Oh yeah, no driving or worring about running out of money cause its all taken care of. Getting back to the OP the finger scanner thing was adopted due to people having problems with the peace sign scanner making a huge line getting in. They started doing it for all admissions last year. |

Being in Asheville the beach is a bit of a drive so I say...Lucky you, minus the fire ants |
