Anyone know of a beginner, free Digital art software that's worth a crap?

Been dabbling in drawing, but I want to make it digital. I have planty of ideas for Concept planes, concept mech and other things.

Thanks.

GIMP is free, and cross-platform.

Paint.net is also free, but I've never used it.

Photoshop 2.0 was being "given" away by Adobe last year. There's a post on it, someplace.

I will note, there was a young lady who did some incredible work with Paint. Yes, MS Paint. Rebekah Naomi Cox is the name.

XCRMonger uses ARTRage on her tablet, I think.

Me, I can use GIMP to resize picture. Barely. Good luck!

ArtRage only on tablet?

I have a laptop, but not a PC.

ArtRage is what I use on my Surface Pro. PaintPro sucks on the tablet but is great on my PC.

Thanks.

Bought me a complete idiots guide to drawing last night. It's a start. I have problems showing depth. I don't know why I started so late in life to  be creative like this.

Each program gives me a very different style.

Corel Painter 12 is very cool, but challenging. At least for me.

Photoshop makes for a smoother look

I've only used PaintPro a little. It's good for cartoony stuff, or for coloring. I like the airbrush tool on this one a lot.

But I think thus far, ArtRage is my favorite. I like doing quick cartoons and I really like the "Archer" look, and i can nail it with ArtRage. I can crank these babies out fast.

They're really inexpensive, and completely worth it.
