I'm having trouble picking up any digital signal with the RCA 1450BR digital antenna I just picked up. The antenna is connected directly to a Vizio XVT32SV TV. My problem is I don't know if I need some other type of equipment to pick up a signal or if the digital antenna just isn't strong enough. Any ideas beside buy cable? Thanks.

That antenna is a compromise at best. The reviews are not all that good. The specs are lacking in the detail needed to determine whether or not it is appropriate for your location and the strength of the signals that you can expect to receive there.

Are you using the RCA simply out of convenience because your living situation does not permit you to install an outside (or attic) antenna?

If you haven't already done so, go to either http://www.tvfool.com/ or http://www.antennaweb.org/aw/welcome.aspx, key in your exact location (or a nearby one if you are paranoid about opsec), and review the directions, distances, and signal strengths for the signals that you are interested in receiving, and then review the recommended antenna type that will permit you to get good reception.

I happen to live about 60 miles from most of the signals that I want to receive, and so an outdoor antenna and preamp are necessary for me to use, and even then I sometimes get signal dropouts.
