| Just finished season 1 on DVD. Cool show. That is all. |
|
I've been watching the show since the first episode previewed on Showtime.com a couple of years ago. Great stuff, good plots and acting from a crew of mostly unknowns. Dexter's sister Debra is kind of a wackjob but looks great, and is a very talented actress. I've also read all three books in the series. Season One is about 95% accurate to the first book, but after that there is significant deviation. The second book bears no relation to this season, and the third book which I just received from Amazon.com a few weeks ago takes the series down a different path which I honestly found unsatisfactory. The first book is easily the strongest, although the second is very good as well. |
I didn't know it was based on a book series |

Season 1 was available for free here from Comcast On Demand, I watched them all over a period of about a week. It was just before Season 2 started, I guess it was a promo. The shows kicked ass. Thanks for the author's name. The books are now on order from the local library. Steve |
Yeah, Dexter strikes me as a guy who has planned for every contingency, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if he had some unarmed combat skills tucked away for an emergency. |
| I didn't have Showtime to see season 1, but tuned in at the beginning of this season without even knowing what it was. Needless to say it kicks some serious ass, one of the best shows I've seen in awhile IMO. I watched the leaked episodes last weekend, great ending to the season IMO. |
In one or two of the shows it was mention that he has a black belt in some type of martial arts. |
How much of the books are covered in the shows. eta: I am burning both seasons to DVD this week. The last episode is out on torrent sites already. ![]() ByteTheBullet (-: |
The first season is extremely close to the first book, although some material is added to the show to flesh out characters and lengthen the overall story. For instance, Rita's drug addicted husband is only mentioned once, and never meets Dexter or anything like that. The second season bears no relation to the second book, other than characters and setting, etc. |

The SO and I have been watching it since Showtime started the series. I think she's getting me the books for Christmas. Nervously waiting for the last episode. Lyla was heading to the drug dealer's cabin and she heard Doakes screaming in the cage. I was kinda hoping she'd get tied to Doakes' demise (don't know if he dies, but I'm not sure how Dexter could continue otherwise) I've got my suspicions how this may end, but they (the writers) have surprised me before. |
Wanna know? ![]() I won't post any spoilers, but I will say, watch it to the end! I cannot wait for season 3!!! ByteTheBullet (-: |
Nope One of the few series I can't spot plot developments an episode before they occur (not predictable). I intend to watch the last one till the screen goes black |

Loved it!! They wrapped it all up in one episode, I was waiting for a big ole cliff hanger. Spoilers below!!! Too bad Doakes was killed, but at least Dexter did not do it!! They were gettin' to be buds. I loved it when Dexter finally offed that crazy bitch!! How weird to be rooting for a serial killer?! |
AGREED. "Dexter" writers did not dissapoint. Lyla kills Doakes, Dexter has his fun with Lyla...it's a winner. I think LaGuerta will discover Dexter's guilt, but be seen as a crackpot. (just my .02...no I haven't read or seen anything). Well, that or Deb finds out he's the butcher and tries to quietly forget what she saw/found/heard. |
