I was looking around online at single edge safety razors the other day, (I was bored. Boredom and net surfing always costs me money.  ) and came across the Leaf Twig/Thorn razors. I had never seen them before and read good reviews about them. Of course the style I liked (matte finish silver) is discontinued on their site, but I found one kit new on ebay so I snapped it up. The one thing I haven't liked about some safety razors is getting up under the nose with them. Some of the heads on them seem "fat" and make it difficult. Seeing the slim design on this one made me decide to try it out, and I like that the shaving head doesn't have to come apart to load it. And that I can snap blades I already have from various makers in half to put in it. Has anyone used these? I read that the Twig is a less aggressive shave than the Thorn, and not having super thick whiskers that they said the Thorn was better for, I opted for that.

I figured I'd get this, since the Twig sounds better for my face, which can be a little sensitive to the regular double blade safety razors I've tried. We'll see how it does. |

Good choice. I've used this Twig for about 3 yrs+? with their blades (2 maybe 4 shaves p/blade) Recommend keeping around an old tooth brush for in between a few swipes. And just me, I go with the ProraAttached File so green line. A little pre-rub and either the soap or tube of cream on their brush and good to go. Have much pricier badger brushes and seem to always go back to that simple brush. |

Good to hear that it's been a good razor for you. I got mine in the mail and have had a couple of times to shave with it. Did fine the first time, but nicked myself a couple of times on the second, with one on my neck that bled well. Might have been a bump or something, I had no issues on my neck before. I like it, it's easy to handle, and being able to see without a larger body blocking your view, and able to get up under the nose easily since it's got such a slim head is nice. Right now I'm just using shaving gel but may break out the brush and bowl and soap for the next one to see if that makes a difference from the gel. I use the Proraso after shave. Need to pick up some more now that I'm thinking about it. |

| Bit me a couple of times at first as well. I view the red stuff as a bonding event. Once you find the combination that works for you I think you will be happy with it. I'm curious as to how snapping double blades for use would go. Haven't tried that yet. |

That's a good way to look at it. "You have drawn blood, razor. Now we are one." I think I may have shaved too fast with it when it bit me. I was too used to the old 5 blade cartridge razor I used most of the time, and can shave quickly with that. I had a beard going for a few months and then dug out the King Gillette razor to try again after buzzing it off. Did all right with that with no nicks. I need to slow down a bit with the Leaf. I have some Feather blades plus some Gillette and I think some others that my late brother had in his collection of vintage DE razors. I need to look through them to see what blades he had. I thought about snapping one to try next since I tried one of the Leaf blades. I was reading online that some like the Feathers or Astra in the Leaf. The set I bought has a box of 50 of their blades plus a 5 pack so I have plenty for a while if I just use theirs. |

Used it again today, but cut a Gillette Wilkinson Sword blade in half with a small pair of scissors and tried it. Had a good shave with no nicks or cuts. Those same blades were what I was using in the King Gillette double edge razor. I'm liking this Leaf a lot, glad I got it.  |

I think it might have been a packet that my late brother had in his collection. I've read that they are good blades, and see them high on lists of ones to get. I'll have to look around online to see where to get some at a good price. Where I live, the stores here have very limited shaving items, other than than the standard disposables and cartridges.
