That picture shows two different states of mind/awareness.

Dad is watching game and is able to protect son.

Son is watching phone instead of game and is clueless.

By the looks of that kid, he spends most of his time on the couch with his face stuck in that phone.

Lol. Kid looks like he is 10 years old. Watching a 9 inning baseball game at 10 years old can be painful.

I caught my youngest son as he was being born, preventing him from landing on the floor. The doctor turned away for a few seconds to speak with a nurse, right as my son popped out all at once. As I held his slimy little behind in my hands, the doctor looked back and said, "Good catch" before taking him and handing him off to a nurse.

I have an 8 month old that is always faceplanting into everything.

He tried hucking himself off the couch the other day and I grabbed him by the ankle before he hit

When my oldest was first learning to walk she tipped over backwards on a granite floor in my parents kitchen. I just managed to get clear across the room and get my hand between the back of her head and the floor with a few inches to spare to slow her down. She looked panicked, realized what happened and giggled at me and got back up.

I'll take that giggle to my grave.

teaching your kid to ride a bike is a good test of Dad Reflexes.

my daughter froze up and wouldn't brake as she gained speed on a slight downhill on the road in front of the house. I was running beside her, realized the problem, and jerked her bike almost to a standstill by grabbing the seatpost.
I had shoved her into the grass, and she went down with me still holding on to slow her fall. As I lost my balance I jumped, dove over her and the crashing bike and landed on my hands and then rolled out of it and came up on my feet.
the wife was watching, like this .

Multiple times my hands have reacted before I was even consciously aware of a problem.
Freaks me out sometimes, but glad it usually turns out well.

BTW, we have a 3 year old boy that likes "creating challenges/obstacles" for the 8 month old who is now standing and on the verge of walking.

Was camping with my wife and 2 kids and her parents.
FIL kicks off the metal band that goes around the firepit to contain the campfire.
The metal band actuall rolls and continues down the hill towards the dock where my wife and 2 daughters were sitting near the dock.
We shouted for them to watch out, but they couldn't hear us over the din of the boats in the water.
Now the fire ring is clearly gonna go all the way down hill.
I grabbed my hatchet and bounded down the hill after the ring.
Caught it about 10 foot away from them.
Stuck the hatchet head into the ring and turned it off its rolling axis.

Not sure what startled my wife or kids more, the hot fire ring rolling towards them or me running downhill at them with the hatchet.

Well it was in the Adirondack Mountains (NY) and pistol permits (to own/possess/carry) aren't exactly distributed like little samples of Tide in the suburbs and hung on every house door.

I'd say a smack might do the kid some good but that bat would have sent him to the hospital.
