So I downloaded iPhone 2.2 last night, and re-jailbroke it... but now I can't get into it from WinSCP!  That means that I can't put my custom text message sound back on there!  That means no more WOLVERINES! whenever I got a text!

BASTAGES!

Whatever you do, make sure you update iTunes to the current version before installing the new firmware... I didn't and it bricked my phone, I had to do a total restore, blah.

FWIW 2.2 is an improvement. I'm getting better performance and streetview is pretty cool.

There were warnings that if you had a jailbroken phone, do not update to 2.2

i had it jailbroken with the previous version, and jailbroke it again right after installing 2.2, with no trouble other than not being able to access it via WinSCP now.

You want sympathy with a jailbroken iPhone? Heh.

Toss it down the driveway, that'll fix it right up for you.

New update worth it? I've been slacking so I haven't downloaded it yet.

You will have to reinstall openSSH to SSH into it again.

2.2 fixed the wifi on my itouch. Connects solid now with encryption.

Make your own iPhone ringtones!

I found this the other day and it works, even for lame-brains like me.

ringtones are fairly easy... custom SMS sounds are a good bit trickier to make happen.

I installed 2.2 after customizing it with pwnage and it works fine. I even did it with iTunes 7.7 and 8.0.1. 8.0.2 kept crashing, so I downgraded. WinSCP will work once you reinstall OpenSSH... though I should berate you for needing a GUI client to use SCP.

I'm doing good just to be able to put gas in the thing and drive it. I am NOT a hacker, by anyone's definition.

Is 2.2 any good? I was playing with it yesterday but decided not to go through with the install. My 2.02 is jailbroken and I wish I could go back to the earlier version, I hate it.

I can surf arfcom better with 2.2, no lock ups like with 2.02 or 2.1.

I just jailbroke it so we will see if it stays that way.

If you can do a restore, then it's not bricked.

Generally, you're going to want to wait to apply the latest firmware if you intend to jailbreak it.  It takes a little while for the h4xx0rz to crack it again.

Seems pretty good.   I've noticed response (opening apps, going to email, going to settings, etc...) seems a bit quicker.  The additions to Maps is pretty cool.  They added a Google Search box to the browser.

Does the google maps update also apply to the 1G iphones or just the new ones? Also is their finally a copy/past function available?
