I've got a fair bit of coin in the safe and I'm ready to spend it.

I'd had my heart set on a Mk 12 Mod 1 clone but the siren song of the 1911 has been calling my name. I already own a Springfield Loaded but was looking for something with a little more class.

What's a guy to do? I already own a few ARs. Should I splurge on the Mk 12 Mod 1 and get my precision on or do I buy a showhorse 1911?

Fashion versus function...me oh my.

Pics would help me decide, as well.

I'd like to keep it around the $1,500 mark, give or take a couple hundred.

In this political climate, I'd go with the AR - unless I planned on carrying the new 1911 every day.

OTOH, I'm not sure how much of a 'precision' AR you can buy with $1500 in today's market anyway.

Get something evil. 1911's will most likely not be in any kind of ban.

Buy the AR in this political climate.

Maybe 1500 with a cheap stock, and no sighting equipment, or other accessories.

I already have a complete lower with a Magpul PRS attached. I already own the glass for the rifle, as well.

With the $1,500 we're only talking about a front/rear Troy BUIS, and complete upper in a Mk 12 Mod 1 configuration. $1,500 should be plenty.

Sounds like you know what to do.

Unless you happen on some really good deals, $1500 is a bit low for a full on MK12MOD1 or a "showhorse" 1911.

Get the precision upper.

I can't understand the 1911 types who will spend $1500 on a handgun. I just don't get it. Maybe someday I will.

Not a choice on the poll but.....

Rifle, Semi-automatic, Cal 30
You pick the platform.

Get a PSL 7.62x54r rifle AND a 1911

A precision AR will do stuff your other ARs can't.  A high-dollar 1911 won't do anything your Springfield Operator can't.  Maybe shoot a 1/2" smaller group at 25 yards out of a machine rest, but unless you carry a machine rest as part of your loadout, who cares?
