Anybody here using RRB rapid cuffs? Just went through the 16 hr 'trainer' program and my personal feeling is that these things should be mandatory issue. I just wish my agency would switch from the current chain issue.

Our dentition officer at our jail have them. Everyone I talk to seems to like them.

Looks like they would not work with a number of cuffing techniques.

It looks like, I can't find any text regarding this, that they do not have anyway to swivel.

I can think of any number of circumstances that that would make cuffing much more difficult.

You have to use them to see the benefits, they are lightning fast and if one cuff gets on you have TOTAL control. The fact that they do not twist brings about a whole new litany of techniques.

Ok, I am sure in some circumstances they would be beneficial and that due to the lack of a swivel there are some things you can do you can't with other cuffs.

However, for the techniques we use to cuff people they would not work.

And not to be an ass, but the only time you have total control is when the BG is dead.

They look interesting.

Are they that much better than say a set of hinged cuffs? I have been using hinged for 13 years now and I like them a lot. More difficult to get on a fighting suspect but much more secure.

I was sceptical, I am a believer now. The thing is the level of resistance falls with the control that is gained. I've used chain and hinged for 20 years, these are better in my opinion.
