I busted the crystal on my Seiko SNZG15 sometime ago. I took it to the only place in town that repairs watches and they wanted $80 plus tax to replace it with a basic glass crystal. That seemed really high to me. I may have done it if it were a sapphire crystal being used to make the repair.
Anyways, do you fine people know of an online vendor, or even perhaps someone here, that would be will to replace it with something quite durable? I work in a locomotive shop and my watch does get whacked occasionally. Thanks! |

This guy gets a lot of good reviews. I have a watch i will be sending him to add a new crystal, hands and other work done on a Seiko.

Toxic $35 for the crystal replacement but that doesn't include the crystal. I found a place called Crystal-Fit that quoted me $80 and ten day turn-around for a sapphire crystal. That may end up being my best bet. |

Tried PM-big but your inbox is full. What's the benefit of a domed vs flat crystal and who do you recommend to install one, if not yourself? Quoted:

What's the benefit of a domed vs flat crystal and who do you recommend to install one, if not yourself? If you go domed, you gotta go sapphire. No longer being tucked into the case means you'll probably just scratch mineral up somewhat easier. Flat usually doesn't scratch as easy since it protrudes and also doesn't have as much of a light reflective issue (non-AR...anti-reflective...coated domed crystals can glare up in certain light; I have some that do but I don't care much). It would probably just have to be a local or regional watchmaker; maybe a jewelry store would send you to one of their contacts but I have no idea what they might charge, honestly. Sorry again for the full inbox. Jared |
