Can an Officer create an LE Only AR-15? If I were to take an AR-15 that I already own and engrave the receiver to BATFE specs (LE Only)and then put all of the "evil features" on it, (mainly a retractable stock), would it be legal under the current laws? The reason I ask this is my Chief won't sign for anything. His opinion is that the Dept has given us the all the equipment we are going to get. He will allow purchasing firearms for duty use with our own funds as long as we can qualify with it, but won't sign any forms or paperwork for any purchases. |
| In that case, if you really want an AR, go buy a perdsonal post-ban and put a short fixed tactical stock on it. If the tele-stock is important, then you will have to buy a personal pre-ban. I think engraving a lower with restrictive markings and then putting the evil features on it would be considered manufacturing an assault weapon, and manufacturing (any rifle) without a manufacturer's FFL. |
