On Temu of course. Legit Benchmade sold direct from China or counterfeit crap? Listed as “folding” knife because of restrictions I’m sure. But in all the pics it’s obvious not a folding blade, but OTF. But I cannot see a trigger? Only $33 Attached File |

Dude, if you're buying from Temu, no need to ask Attached File |

That stuff really concerns me, and is why we recently drove for hours to get to a well respected store to try and inspect em in person, when buying our first fancy auto. I guess the interwebs biggies like Blade HQ and Knife Center are probably trustworthy, but I've read that with some of the autos, different examples of the very same knife might feel slightly differently in the way they actually work - assuming you are super picky. |
| About 20 years ago, I bought a Benchmade assisted opening knife at a flea market for $5. It was supposedly so cheap because the spring was broke. I sent it in to Benchmade to get it repaired. Not surprisingly they emailed me to inform that it was counterfeit and that they would be keeping it. They offered me 30% off of anything in their catalog. I never did take up their offer for some reason I don't currently remember. |

I posted a thread about a year or two back about fake Benchmades on Ebay. I was doing a knife drawer clean out and noticed that one of my knives I was selling (North Fork Hunter) seemed to be selling for half price on Ebay. Turns out there was a single seller (who had sold thousands of dollars of these on Ebay just in the last several months) was selling these fakes and listing 5 to 10 at a time. The majority of all North Fork Hunters being sold on Ebay were all fake. I reported it to ebay and wrote Benchmade a letter. Ebay didn't give AF but Benchmade did. The seller was kicked from Ebay but most likely sold 10's of thousands of dollars of this knife before he was 86'ed |

Quoted: A lot of Chinese knife manufacturers would have to lower their quality to make a convincing fake of a Benchmade. Not really, I’ve seen Chinese clones of custom blades that give the real deal a run for the money with same or similar materials and solid function for a sixth of the price. Some had cleaner machining than the real deal. |

That’s fake, price and where it’s coming from are both obvious clues. That being said, some guys I work with have been buying some different models of fake Spyderco knives that are really nice, built and finished as good, if not better than the genuine Spyderco’s. Where the money savings, other than cheap labor comes from is the steel. I had them XRF tested by the NDT quality department for the CPM S35V they’re marked as and they turned out to appear to be D2 steel. That’s still a good knife steel, but who knows the heat treatment of it. From what I’ve been told is they’re holding up well and keep an edge. These guys I work with are known to abuse the living crap out of their knives, using them for prying, screwdrivers, opening bottles etc. so the value seems to be there. Personally I can’t bring myself to buying Chinese counterfeit Spyderco’s. Too bad I don’t really care for Benchmade knife designs, otherwise I’d partake because F Benchmade

| Fake. I have one I got in a box of stuff I recently bought. Believe me, it’s definitely not a real Benchmade. It was sharper than I thought it would be for a fake. It doesn’t always deploy/retract properly either. I don’t know as I would pay the $33 dollars for the one I have. |
