Correcting misinformation
Being as I am from jersey org (most of my life) the main reason I am not a lefty is my Dad was not from there, he met my Mom while stationed there after WWII.

I grew up fresh water fishing, salt water fishing, hunting big and small game, learning to shoot a gun when I was 6 and a bow around the same time.

Needless to say I was surrounded by dems my whole life, I got to know how they think , what they really believe.

You'd be shocked at how close we here align with reg dems.

So I was at a family function in jersey, they all know I make guns for a living, some are hilary supporters and some would not say who they support.

I was in a group of about 10 people and we were talking about the issues coming up.

A women asked me how I could ship a gun to someones home with out a background check, you could have heard a pin drop in the whole large room, ears perked up expecting me to defend this "practice"

First I explained oswald stopped that when he shot kennedy.

I told the growing circle of Friends & Family that even though you can buy a gun online form a dealer or such in another state it does not get shipped to your home, rather it gets shipped to a local dealer where you go down there and fill in the proper paperwork  before you can take your gun home, its done with a background check from the federal system.

Next issue that was asked was the killer high cap mags

This was easy I showed the whole group a video of the guy on you tube changing out 10 rd mags showing them that mag cap limits were in fact stupid and would not save one life.

The last issues they wanted to know about was what hilary keeps crying about.

How am I not allowed to be sued if one of my guns is used in a murder?

Why is the gun industry a "special protected class of business"

I first explained that bloomberg started suing gun shops and MFGers to put them out of business as a backdoor measure to stop gun sales nation wide.

I then asked the 15 or 20 people now listening if someone stole their SUV form their driveway some night and killed a family of 4 in a car wreck should that families suvivores be able to sue you for those deaths?

They all shook their heads "no"

I then asked them if they think it's OK to sue GM or Ford for the thief stealing that SUV and killing that family?

Again they all said "no"

I could see the light bulbs going on in their heads, not all of them but most saw the truth in what I was saying.

There was a young guy, not a family member , he said but "why shouldn't the gun maker pay the family something, they have the money?"

I asked him point blank

"bernie supporter huh?"

He said yeah how'd I know that?"

Everyone laughed and knew what I meant

The point of this is:

When you get the chance correct misinformation , especially around dems

We aren't going to change the hearts and minds of hard core liberals but it's worth the effort when you have reg dems willing to listen.

5 of that group will be coming up here this summer , I invited them to come to our private range and we will teach them safety and how to shoot, they were excited too!

Wow you actually beat them with Logic and got the light bulbs to go off in all but the Bernie idiot. They clearly are not the hardcore idiot liberals but ones that actually wanted to learn something. Great job. Now to just figure out a way to get the liberals to see this logic and all will be good. Although doubt that will ever happen.

I make it a point to not hang out with Democrats. They are too stupid to bear.  Good job on educating the useful idiots though.

Part of the point is that dems , reg dems are not that far off from us, a lot of them believe in the right to own guns, a lot of them are pro life.

A dem from Georgia is probably like a republican from jersey

Good Job!

This is the approach we should all use as our first card. Pick their beliefs apart  and gently disassemble them with facts. No screaming or posturing, just simple logic.

Nope, last year we had a similar family event in jersey, almost the same kind of dialect, we ended up with about 15 people coming up over the summer, all dems all learned to shoot and almost all went home and bought guns.
One even used that gun he bought to stay safe while the police were on the way , his house was broken into by 2 junkies . he said although he didn't have to shoot he felt good having that gun in his hand while he and his wife waited on the floor by their bed for the police.

The cops caught em 2 blocks away, one had one of their kitchen butcher knives on him.

He also followed my advice and put the gun back and did not mention it prior to letting the cops in.

My experience has been when getting them over the logic hump, at least half of them are just too lazy or too ignorant to argue back and will agree just to get you to leave them alone.

They will act like you've convinced them because they're not capable of replying with any weight. They know this, so they shut up.  There will be some blowhard that might insist on arguing a previously disproved point, but pretty much everyone rolls their eyes and wishes he'd just shut up so they can stop being uncomfortable in their collective wrongness.

Those here who say it's a disease are not too far off the mark. That's not just hyperbole. There are plenty of people who even knowing they are wrong and cannot answer to the facts will continue to "believe" their position.

Plenty of this on any side of any issue, really.

Last night at a party at my house a guy said he was voting for Hillary. I asked him why. He said she'd be the first female President. I granted him that and asked him what else other that her vagina made her qualified to run the most powerful nation on the planet.

I have a liberal friend, and we used to argue about guns and gun control quite a bit.  Eventually he admitted I was right - gun control is ineffective and there are a bunch of other solutions to reducing crime without taking away my right to self defense.  Then he follows that up with "but I just care about the guns."  I don't argue with him anymore if it's just us, but sometimes I'll debate a little if others are listening.  I know I won't change his mind, but maybe others.

Good. I'll gladly be wrong on this.
