Might be a regional thing but we always had a peanut butter sandwich with chili. However my Uncle was from Kentucky as in back woods and he did the same thing. He might have picked it up here though.
9/8/2014 6:32:09 PM EDT

I grew up eating chili with sliced babanas and sour cream in it.
9/8/2014 6:35:43 PM EDT

I never liked the cornbread and chili thing. Thats how Chili was served at our school. but at Home, Mom just served us Chili, Crackers, and cheese slices.

BTW Chili has Beans here in the Midwest, thats how we keep warm in the winter. All you Nancy-boys down south can stay down there with your spicy meat sauce.

Chances are excellent that your mom or her mom got her so called "chili" recipe from a government cookbook from the depression. It may be quite tasty, but it's not chili.

Cornbread, yes!  Corn kernels in the chili?  No thanks.

I'll mirror the "needs more jalapeno" comment.  I love some freshly sliced jalapeno on top.

Chili season approaches!

I wish someone would tack Zhukov's geographic poll/analysis dealing with the regional beans/no-beans preference.

It turned out that the only areas that preferred no-beans were the "kissing sister" states of California and Texas.

Not surprising to most ARFCOMers.
