| My computer has been having some problems . So I had to reload Windows 2000 Professional. For some reason now it doesn't remeber settings. Everyday I have to reset the Automatic Updates so they are ....well..... automatic. I do hit the apply button. Also when I start for the first time everyday and go online, it goes to the Windows website and downloads Service pack 4. This is a big file and it takes forever on dialup. Problem is it does this everyday. I installed the SP4 update last night and today it is downloading it again. Anyone have an idea what is going on? Thanks Zeekh |

When you "reloaded" win 2k, did you just install over your bad copy or did you blow away the previous version (with fdisk or similar) and reformat the drive? Sounds like you may have a registry corruption problem and it may only be solvable done by wiping out the partitions, reformating and reinstalling. When you right click on my computer and look at properties, does it say win2k Service Pack 4? |
