OK, I am not the most computer savy guy in the world, but the fan under my power supply is making a loud humming sound.
Is this a hard part to replace?  Can I do it myself?
It seems easy enough since I have a Gateway tower so there is room in there...
Any advice is appreciated!

It may be easier to replace the power supply.

It's easy to replace. Just use colored tabs on the wires, same color on the device so you don't get mixed up.

Try vacuuming out all the crap.

I have a CPU cooling fan that gets imbalanced and starts buzzing when it gets enough cat hair in it.  And I have a long-haired cat that likes to sleep on the CPU.

Or crank your air compressor up and blow the crap off the fan. You can get that sucker spinning real fast with 100 Lbs of air.

I took mine apart once since it was making horrible noise. Took the fan out of the power supply and gave it a shot of some CLP and its been working good now for almost a year.
