I have a problem with my CD drive.  I had a CD go to pieces inside the drive.  I removed the drive and all the pieces.  The drawer will not stay closed now.  If I hit the button it will close...then open...then close...then open...then close...then open and stay open.  Anyone ever heard of anything like this?  Any ideas at all?

Thanks,
Jeff

On the last open use it as a cup holder.  [bd]

Duct Tape!

Seriously, just get a new cd drive. They're so cheap now, even for CD-RW, that it's ridiculous.

Just think of it this way: A new CD-rom drive will cost you much less than replacing an expensive CD (like your windows disk) should it choose to eat another one.

I know, I will need to get a black one if it's going to match.  It was my dumb fault anyway.  I had a cracked audio cd that I thought I could copy and then throw it away.  Didn't work out so well.  I am a bit wiser now.

Hi jvic,

I have had the same problem a couple of times.

I opened the machine and unplugged the power from the back of the cd then rebooted.  Then shut down and re-attach the power.  It fixed my Creative CDRW.

Warning if your computer explodes it is not my fault!! Just kidding. [:)]

Hi jvic,

Unfortunately most firearms are banned in Australia.  So I like to read the forums for a common sense viewpoint of the world.
