I'm formatting a new to me 1.5 TB Seagate HD with Vista Business. Disk manager has been stuck on 73% for about an hour.
Is that normail? I don't remember it happening last time I formatted a HD.
Thoughts, or solutions please.

Did you select full format or quick?
When I've formatted my 1tb drives it only take 5-10 secs. Cancel and restart the format, making sure quick is selected.

I always do full.
incase there are errors or something.
it can take 4 or so hours to format a 1.5 tb
and nearly 24 for a 4tb drive.

I did some googling. I might have to use my secondary sata controller?
Reading the MB manual now.
What I don't get is I had a 2TB drive that formatted perfectly before it died.

Possibly a BIOS limit.
Are you formatting as NTFS?
You said "New to me". Does that mean that it is used? If so, then run Chkdsk /f on it. It may have bad sectors.

Yep used. The guy that gave it to me ran chkdsk, and said it was fine. I'll do it to.
