I was looking to buy a new Zeus Computer, but I have also been pricing parts from NewEgg. I am looking at an Asus Motherboard with the AMD 64 3.5 processor. My question to you is this: When you get a new motherboard, how do you put the processor in? Is it just a matter of plugging it in or do you need to put heat paste and do other things? I figure to spend about $1150 vs $1800 for one built. I have never built one before, but I can assemble things fairly easily. Has anybody else ever built one without ever having done it before? |

Everyone has built one without ever having done it before. It was our first. ![]() As far as inserting the CPU, its simple, just stick it in the slot, throw down the arm, and then apply the heatsink/fan. I typically buy retail CPU's that have the factory fan/heatsink included.... but if you dont, then your heatdink may require thermal paste, or may not. Depends on the design. Some of them come with the paste, some you have to buy extra. Just depends on what you are looking at. |

The processor should come with heat sink paste. There is a lever on the mobo socket that you lift, align the pins, slides in VERY easily(don't force it), lower lever and violia! ETA: Oh, yeah the FAN! Too slow anyways. shhhh, don't tell anyone how easy it is. ByteTheBullet (-: |
