Okay, that was clickbait. But here you are.

Truth be told, this has fuck all to do with the Common Core guidelines, but it was the result of an assignment given to my 12 year old daughter, by her public school - write a "recipe poem".

I (shame on me) didn't even know about the assignment until after it was graded and returned, but when I saw it tonight...I dunno. I felt a simultaneous sense of pride and amusement. I'm 34, and I wouldn't have come up with this, if asked to write a "recipe poem".

The best part? She was instructed to write it in ink. She wrote it in pencil, carefully traced over the good version in ink, then erased the pencil. I swear to fucking God, I didn't teach this to her. She worked it out on her own. I'm so proud.

Meh, neither do most of the threads on the subject.

If it weren't for the handwriting, I would have assumed someone much older - she has also already mastered the apostrophe beyond 87% of GD.

Nice! Give her a high five for me. Remind her that just because she's smart doesn't mean she should be a doctor!

I am mildly disappointed by one thing, however. That isn't a hand written qr code in the corner.

Aww, that is cute.

She's also got an excellent command of the language for her age.  Not just the punctuation, a real feel for the words.

At this rate, she will do very well in life.

It's nice to hear about intelligent children. There aren't too many of them these days. OP should be proud.

Smart kid!  Good job, dad.
