Im trying to identify a rifle. I think its a factory rifle but Im not sure , can anyone shed some light on this for me PLEASE ! Colt Preban Lower Marked Sporter Target Cal. .223 Serial number ST 015XXXXX Collapsable stock Barrel is 1/7 twist and about 17 inches from reciever to end of Birdcage Flash Supressor its thin the entire length ( not govt profile ) The handguards are about 6.5 inches long. I was told its a Colt Carbine possibly model 6520 or 6530 ? Is this a factory Colt rifle ? Any idea on value ? I appreciate your help, the rifle is NM and looks to be unfired. |

The serial number and roll marks make it a Colt R6551 Sporter Target. At least the lower is. From the factory it would have had been a 20" A2 profile rifle minus the bayonet lug. The barrel would be a A2 20" govt. profile barrel. It would not have been in carbine form. If it is, it isn't original and someone has put a different upper on it. |
Fricking savages around here, that gun is worth at least $100. Give me your email and I'll paypal u

You might want to check in the AR section, they will have a Colts ST rifles date page. The reason I mention this is because the Sporter Target was first made from 1993-about 2003,and the Serial # on that gun is like 1,500,000(rifle may not be pre-ban). Just something to think about(seeing where you're from and all). Bob |

My mistake, I didnt mean that there were that many Xs, there are only 6 digits in the serial number, 015XXX, I should have thought of that. I think its worth more in parts than as a whole rifle !! I was hoping it was an unusal factory rifle, not something that was pieced together. Oh well. I appreciate all the info and help. |
