Cigars are lke Beer, you can get a nice stout Guinness or go for something milder like a Coors Light. If you like stout flavor go for something like a Punch, CAO, or Partagas. For middle of the road, something more like a Cohiba. Look at the wrapper, dark wrapper has stronger flavor, lighter is milder. Some of my personal favorites: Cohiba Romeo y Julieta Monte Christo I also prefer the robusto (that' the size), since it's shorter. Cigars can get bitter towards the end. Cuban's rock! I don't care what folks say abt there being no difference from Honduran/Dominican/Nicaguaran. After a Cuban I don't get the nasty cigar breath hours later. My wife sure notices the difference. Enjoy! |

If you are new to the addiction, try these for starters Macanudo H. Uppman Hoyo de Monterey Excalibur Arturo Fuente You really have to try some and see which ones you like. The above are guaranteed to be quality cigars and at least you will not start with a "no name" cigar. |
Yea what he said must h a v e more I will say the dark wrappers can be pretty smoooooth though
|
BIG +1 on the no name stuff you will get turned off real fast by a crappy stoogie! |
Don't do it! I got into it a month ago and have already spent more than I'd like to admit. First I got a 100ct humidor, it would last me forever, right?! No, just got my 600ct humidor today. ![]() And whatever you do, don't get involved with cigarbid.com -- it's evil. But do check out eherf.com and cigarweekly.com -- great group of people. As for your original question: Macunado are mild and good for a beginner. If you like sweet there is Baccarat. More flavor you can try Punch, RyJ, CAO. |

Get a few Macanudo Maduro Hyde Parks. That's about as good a cigar as it gets it you're going to smoke on a regular basis. If you're saving it for special occasions where money isn't a problem, try a Fuente Hemingway Short Story. It's a very short but still "fat" cigar with a nice taste, but it doesn't take an hour to go through one. JRCigar.com is a good source, Nat Sherman too. Thompson Cigars is the Botach of the cigar world :) |

I am not sure if I am violating any ar15.com rules here. I cofounded and moderate a cigar web site. Here Just trying to help. We dont make $$ off of anyone except the advertisers. |
+1 on the La Gloria Cubana Series R. They harken back to the hey day when La Glorias were still made in Little Havana in Florida. |

If your just gettin started and you don't want to spend a lot of money buying singles ($4-$7 a peice) Go to this website here and get in on a Newbie sampler trade. They'll fix ya up; I promise. Nicest people I've veer met on the internet! I've been over there for about a month and I've got a 28qt. cooler completey packed w/ name brand cigars. Speed |

99.9% of non-cuban cigars suck ass Anything made by Aurto Fuente is a good start. The Opus line is his best. They are not cigars to be taken lightly. Tons of nicotine in them. First time I smoked one, i thought I was smoking weed ![]() Another great cigar is called Aurora. They have a lion on the front package. They where ranked the #2 cigar in the non-cuban world by Cigar Affecandio. I have to agree with the ranking. Its a wonderful smoke. And then there are the cubans ![]() Cubans are like black women. Once you go cuban, you never go back. |
This is an ignorant post about cigars. I am sorry, but it really is. If you are relying on CA and other such rag's for your info, I am worried about you.
|
You read way too many magazines. Try smoking a cigar instead of reading about them. 90% of cigar smokers cannot tell the difference between a quality Cuban and quality xxx brand. I'll include you in that list. I am fortunate to have access to Cubans and I can say for certain they are not that much a cut above any number of very good cigars. |

I don't even know where to begin.![]() My suggestion would be to visit some of the sites listed and learn. Also check out some of the deals listed at some of these sites, remember the internet can be your friend. (4 boxes of cigars arrived on the doorstep this week, I love Tax Refund time). I've been a longtime follower of this particular site although the crowd can be a little difficult some times. http://www.herfersparadise.net/portal/ |

I REALLY like the Yellow Band Dominican Cohiba's..Very mild everyday smoke. I have recently purchased a box of Don Tomas 600's 6x60 which is a FAT ASS smoke! Very mild and nice taste. AF can be pretty strong for someone just starting out. Whatever you do, try to stay away from machine made cigars and Thompson Cigar company... I know some maduro wrapped cigars that are very mild (at least to me)..CAO Brazilla Gol and Partagas Black Label are mild smokes to me... Sancho Panza Double Maduro kicked my butt! I have some Ashton Cabinet AVO's and some Padron 1964's aging in my humidor right now... Can't wait |
Nice Humi man!....I'm using a 28qt cooler (soon to be a 56 qt. coolerdor). Where'd ya get that at if you don't mind me askin? |
made it. its a wine cooler. I put spanish cedar all up in it. And put an electonic cigar oasis in the back. It keeps them at a perfect 70/70 all year long. |
In all honesty, Cuban Cohibas suck ass! They are the hardest drawing smoke I have ever had... And a totally shitty rolled stick, at best! I will not comment on Cubans other than saying that the only true Cuban smokes I have had have been in Europe. The MonteCristo #2's have always been the best!
As I stated in an earlier post, one of my favorites. |
