Compared to the 80's when bands like Stryper were the best out there. There are a lot of very talented Christian Artists today. Like the message or not bands like 3rd Day, Mercy Me, etc. produce some good music.

Plankeye got their name from that verse.  They were a CRG back in the 90's, search for "Whisper to me", "All the Kings Horses", Push Me Down", I think they are on iTunes as well.

A little factoid for some of you....

The old drummer of Underoath worked at Silencerco doing all their media stuff for the longest time. He has since quit to go on tour back in Europe.

I grew up forced to listen to a lot of Christina music and the only thing positive I could add to this thread might be Rez Band...some of their stuff was sort of a Bad Company-ish and actually pretty good.

My father still has all their albums (on vinyl of course).

Call them rock or not but I love Third Day and Mercy Me! I like others too but these are my favorites. People that gripe about Christian music haven't really listened to it. Or at least not enough to give an honest try at finding some groups they can relate to.

Do I wish Pearl Jam, Linkin Park and other did Christian music? Absolutley!!! They don't though. All that negetive depressing crap is no good for anybody. It can and will change your mood. This is why I choose to listen to uplifting, positive music. Btw, to the individual that said "they all sing about the same thing", buddy they are singing about the only thing worth singing about!!!!!!

It's different with Christian music.  My ex listened to it all the time.  One day she had some on and it was just terrible.  It sounded like a bad wedding band.  So, I ask her what in the hell she's listening to.  "It's bla-bla-bla, Christian rock."  I paused for a moment and asked her if she'd be listening to it if the lyrics weren't all Christiany (that's probably not a real word, but whatever), because it sounded absolutely horrible.  Her -->

Granted, there are a few that rock, I'll give you that.

rock? eww
Christian metal?

mortification - scrolls of the megiloth
Mordecai- Exhortation (Chrsitian black/unblack metal)
Becoming the Archetype- End of an Age

ps saying someone of faith cannot play a specific style of music is silly. Before I got saved i listened to all manner of metal.
Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, Immolation, Dark funeral etc. When i got saved though, a switch doesnt flip and you just magically
like different music. Some of the bands i listed really appealed to me when i was a new Christian.
I knew God had called me to something then and I picked up playing drums I practiced and kept at them for years knowing
God had a plan for me in a Christian Metal band. Years later it worked out nicely. I started working with another like minded fellow
we formed a few different bands and later a final band that was pretty successful in our eyes. We always did our best to promote
Christ in a sincere way. We also tried to give the best show possible, firebreathing and fire poi were always a part of the show.
We did many shows in churches and church events. We were pretty heavy and not always what people wanted to hear. Sometimes
i think some people were a bit freaked out by Christians playing anything heavy or 'blast beats.' It was something new to alot of folks.
But we got our message out there and made friends in the process. We put together shows and invited other bands and we always had a good
mix of music styles for everyone. But I have heard it all before, Christians cant do that, Christians dont look that way, Christians dont play loud.
Im here to tell you, some of us do.

Some harder stuff....
As I Lay Dying
Living Sacrifice
Zao
Sleeping Giant
Extol
Norma Jean
Embodyment

small sampling of a rather well established Christian "hard" scene.

Maybe you are right and maybe it is rare, but I have a decent size Christian CD library (150 to 200 CDs at the present) from various bands and before I purchase most of them, I check the reviews or ask people's opinions and find quite often non-Christians do listen to Christian music.  Well at least the ones I buy anyway.  Often they even give good reviews and also note they are not Christians.

I think Christian music has come a long way in quality.  Maybe they were somewhat a joke in the past, but nowadays some of the music really rocks.   .

As I lay Dying is a band made up of Christians.

Are they a Christian band ?

Call them what you will but I saw them live last August and they @#$%*&!  rocked.

They were on tour with Slipknot, Slayer Motorhead, Anthrax and other bands but they took time away from the tour to play small venues  I saw them at a bar in Rochester.

WOW were they fast !!!!!
