My woodstove is in the basement and there is a fireplace on the next floor in my living room.
When the woodstove is starting, there is a small amount of smoke that leaks back thru the fireplace damper and smokes up the living room. It doesnt smoke it up bad, but enough to stink and makes you not want to stay in the living room. (not to mention the CO) I've tried reseating the damper a few times by slamming it shut etc , but to no avail. Is there a sealer I can put around this rectangular damper edge ??? When the chimney is cold,, I have always had the problem of getting a good draft started. It is an exterior chimney. edited for better details |
