Out for a while and I still can't duplicate DFAC/Mess hall chilli mac.
I've tried a few recipies without success; the closest so far is 1 box velveeta shells & mac dinner and one can of hormel turkey chilli [beans included]. How can I make a good old batch of chilli mac? Thanks all. -Ben |

jesus, man. what the hell for? you can make real food yourself and you want mess hall chow? I mean, it filled the tummy but shit.
cooked elbow pasta, browned hamburger, cream of chicken soup, some corn and bake it for 45 minutes covered. not mess hall but better. add some salsa if you like to spice it up. |

Because it was good to me, at the army and other army chow halls. It was also really good when I brought 40-ish shivvering, wet people in and we had lunch. We left as brothers. I suspect it works better when cooking for 4,000 than 4, but so far as I know it consists of marinara, pasta, and some browned beef or canned chilli [mild]. I'm essentially asking because I've had a bad week and would like to have a nice, hot meal of happy, even if my buddies are not around. |
