Went out shooting with my number one partner this weekend!

The target is the stick sticking out of the hill

We shot a metric assload of other stuff as well, but these are the best pictures.

I made him cary his own gun- look at that finger.  I told him "you better not embarrass me on ARFCOM!"

Please forgive me... what type of rifle is it?  BB gun?  .22?

In any case, looking good!

Cute picture.

The bottom one reminds me of the scene in "O'Brother Where Art Though" ––

You know:

Boy (after firing a warning shot over the Wanderers' heads):  You men from the bank?

Delmar: No, son.

Boy: My daddy tole me I'm to shoot whoever's from the bank.

Delmar: We ain't from the bank, young feller.

Boy: I'm also s'posed to shoot anyone servin' papers. You servin' papers?

Delmar: We ain't servin' papers, neither.

Boy: I nicked the census man!

Delmar: Now, there's a good boy.

BB gun, the size down from the Red Ryder (he's only 4)  He has to master the four fundamentals, and have ab understanding of sight picture etc, before we go on to 22s

Great job!!! And good on you starting him with proper shooting protection.

I have come to the conclusion (even though I didn't do it as a child) that eye pro is more important with BB guns than with regular shooting, unless your shooting steel.  A BB is MUCH more likely to come back, especially since we shoot plastic stuff a lot- it always bounces back from a trash can.

You realize, of course, that when he grows up, he is going to sue you for that haircut.

I was going to say that he is going to wrap that Red Ryder around pops neck for that haircut.

I like the haircut.  My 3 yo boy has about the same one.

Looks like a great time.  I wish my dad had taken pictures the first time he took me shooting.  We shot up a dead alarm clock with an M1 carbine.

Good job!
