Why does your computer go crazy when a cell phone rings anywhere near it?  This can't be good for your brain.

I have Cingular.  It starts buzzing first real loud.  Then my monitor starts to flicker, repeated by a horrible buzzing noise.  I have to back away at least 10' to get the loud buzzing to stop.

Lemmie guess... Nextel?

My Nokia doesn't do anything to my speakers.  When I had Nextel, I could hear it ring through the speakers before the phone did.

GSM phones get a reaction out of my radio or computer speakers, but not the computer itself.

I notice it with my computer and my car radio.  I assume it's because the phone is broadcasting in response to the incoming call.

Normally you'll get the interference right before the call as the cell site "handshakes" with the cell phone. Of course that same RF courses though your brain during the call. If you have LCD monitors the phone doesn't bother the computer screen. If you wrap your head in foil it doesn't bother your brain either.

The RF radiation is non-ionizing so it shouldn't do much more than heat your brain up a bit ... of course the women who have the thing growing out of the sides of their heads will all sue for brain cancer in about ten years driving the companies out of business.

Mine never used to do it until I got Nextel, now if it's <3-4 feet from the TV, CRT, etc., I get a bunch of lines.  Not really sure what does it, my scanner does the same thing and it -shouldn't- be transmitting anything at all.

Analog cell phones rarely cause this.

A dual-band Analog/Digital and/or GSM phone will do it big time!

either that, or its the dead guy that's haunting SGTAR15's house

Sprint fone doesnt do it to any computer ive come near. speakers buzz with nearly transmitters that throw off 3-5 watts. some monitors pick this up too. frequency plays alot into this.

If its Nextel, then that is common. Something to do with the frequency they use. I dont remember the specifics they told me. If its another one, ?

All electronic devices transmit some RF due to charge moving through circuits.  Devices designed to receive and amplify RF tend to radiate even more.
