just wondering how many are into car audio.
I'm building a SQ system in my current ride centered around a vintage RF amp. would be nice to see some systems for inspiration |
|
I need to update my PB but here is the run down 2002 Excursion 450hp PSD wit 10 lift and 38" Alpine F1 status head unit with matching f1 flipout screen and alpine PHX processor. front stage is Seas Lotus 2 6.5's in the doors and tweets in the sail panel, 8" stereo Bass drivers in custom enclosure in from center colum. re fills Zapco competeion 6.5 and tweets in rear doors and rear seats. stereo JLAudio 13w7's all powered by 6 Zapco DC reference amps 4 way crossed overed |

I seem to be going in the opposite direction.
I've got a pretty decent system set up in my QC Ram, but the subs take up the storage under the rear seat and it's starting to bother me. Other alternatives to keep the low end of my system are expensive... replacing the center console with a JL set up for example. |

I have a RF 4080 in my Canyon and a Punch 200 in my K5. Ive been running those amps for well over 13 years now. I did find a bunch of end caps and amp links that I listed on Ebay and got a decent amount of money for. They were just sitting up in the garage rafters.
Canyon had an Alpine IVA-D900 DVD but I recently swapped that out for a Clarion CX609. Not too happy with that but for now its doing the job. Found myself not liking the light emiited by the Alpines moniter. And I never used it for DVDs plus it did not do Ipod or have bluetooth. Sub is a Alumapro 10" in a band pass enclosure. Rears are ADS 6.5" co-axles. Fronts are Polk 6.5" components. Amp: Fosgate 4080 K5 has an older Clarion Pro Audio deck which will be replaced for something with Ipod controls. Amps are Punch 200 and Alpine F1 series (I think its a FRV-125??). Boston Pro Series seperates. Fosgate Punch 15" sub. I have a closet full of stuff that I bought thinking I was going to build a competition system and just never got around to it. Alumapro 12's (4). Zapco competition amps (6.0, 2.0, 1.0). Sold off a good bit (Zapco eq30-sl third octave xovers, SXSL eq, other Zapco comp amps I had) |

I do all my own work except for dynamat (FTS).
Having a 4 door full sized pickup truck limits what you can put in it. I have a MTX REQ as an output converter so I can keep my factory head unit to deter thieves, (4) Clarion 6.75" components in the doors and (2) 10" Boston Acoustic subs in a sealed box under the back seat. I have a 4 channel 425w amp for the highs and mids and a 1000w 1 channel Alpine for the subs. I'm no Steve Meade but it does bump. Because I'm lazy and cheap I kept it under 1000w RMS so I don't have to run more than 4awg power wires and no extra attery or cap. I remember my first setup. I had a Nissan Sentra and crammed a ported box with 2 Kicker 12"s, a cheap Hifonics 2000w amp, Pioneer 6x9"s, Walmart Sony xplod's and the illest JVC head unit (the first phantom style). I would get pulled over constantly for noise ordinance violations by NOPD. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

They hit too with a cheap 1200w Sony xplod amp. First I had 2 Kicker 10" Comps in a Sub Thump box with a Power Acoustic 520 amp. I should have stuck with those instead of upgrading. They broke the rearview mirror off at the mount. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |
| I've been doing car audio as a hobby since I was 16 I'm now closing in on 38. I did install for a living for 2 years, but I knew I did not want to do it as a career. I now just install for people by word of mouth and since I work in a large hospital i stay fairly busy. I currently have a 05 silverado with An Eclipse head unit, 3 MTX amps (85x2front,55x2rear,800x1sub), 2 pairs Alpine SPX 6.5" seperates (F&R), 2 Infinity 12" subs in a down firing sealed box. The RF amp your using is it the throwback series they had out a few years ago or an actual vintage one? If you have any install or setup questions hit me up. Good luck. |

Good luck. it's an actual vintage one and made in the USA it's the one that looks like a grill with the round endcaps a 20 watts x 4 with X-over and it will power everything! |
