The car that I bought (Acura CL), has a massively overpowered, ghetto wired aftermarket stereo system.  Two amps, two subs, etc.

I know jack shit about how the guy I bought it from wired it, but it looks pretty sloppy.

Recently, the stereo stopped working on a regular basis, but will magically start playing when I hit the accelerator really hard.  I'm guessing that there is a loose connection, but I can't find it.

Any ideas why there is a correlation between the accelerator and the stereo?

Thanks.

I'd check the basics first, battery cables and the stereos grounds, subs/amps grounding out etc. Take the head unit out while it's still connected and wiggle it around and see if it cuts out. You're going to have to figure out if the problem in in the head unit area or one of the other components.
