I've had a car that has been sitting for about 4 months tops.

Am I going to wreck the engine if I start it up without draining the gas tank?

No.

No, but you'll probably have a hard time getting it started if the gas has turned stagnant and stale from sitting for so long.

Depends on how finiky the car is i guess.  I had the same tank of gas in my jeep for 1.5 years before.  No problems at all.

no, but make sure you change the air in the tires before you drive it

I bought an '83 Olds Delta eighty-eight for $175, about 3 years ago.  It had been sitting for 7 years in the same spot when I bought it.  I started it right up (after some slight caressing ) and drove it home on 7 year old gas.

Nope, I just started the engine and started detailing my truck tonight that has been filled up only once this year.  No problems whatsoever.  The only thing I am going to do is toss in a bottle of Gumout Regane once i'm done detailing it and then go out and drive the hell out of it.

Depending on the humidity of your area, 4 months is not long at all. I had an old truck that I was selling, hadn't been started  for at least 2 1/2 yrs and who knows how old that fuel was. New battery and it fired right up.

should be fine.
