One of the nicest guys I've ever known was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer a year ago. They gave him 6 months but he has been fighting on for a year now. He was doing well but just got the news that he is suddenly doing really bad and it sounds like the cancer is spreading and he doesn't have much longer. It really breaks my heart

First time I ever heard the word "Cancer" was when my best friend's dad was diagnosed with lung cancer. I saw this man look like a tough 38 year old Irishman to a weak man looking like 90 years old, in 9 short months. Used to spray asbestos with no mask on. Poor man didn't know.

It seems like almost once a month now I hear of someone I know or in the news that is diagnosed with this disease.

I'm sorry for your friend... How old is he?

Cancer seems to be hitting almost everyone it seems.

My Uncle started Chemo today for liver and lung.

My former co-workers father had lung which spread to lymph nodes so is everywhere now and only being treated with pain meds.

Picked up a neighbor who was walking home last night, coming back from a chemo session for his prostate cancer.

It never seems to end.

We've all gotta go, OP. Just take it as a reminder to enjoy life, make the most of it, and prepare for the next chapter because it's a lot longer than this one.

FUCK CANCER.
My favorite aunt died from it in the 80s.
Never smoked, drank 1 beer on Thanksgiving, and 1 on Christmas.
43 years old. Lymphoma....

Fuck Cancer...

My dad died earlier this year after a 9 month battle with lung cancer. All I know is I don't wish that on anybody, and it's certainly not the way I want to go out.

Yep, it does suck.  My dad went to the Naval Hospital on July 10th for dizziness.  Mom went with him, she said he wasn't acrting like himself.  Dr. Did a CT found some spots she didn't like in his brain. Navy EMS took him to a local ER for further tests.
After lots of tests and blood work, he was diagnosed on the 12th with lung cancer that has spread to his brain.
Walked into the Navy hospital, but now needs help, just sitting up on the couch.

Currently doing radiation treatment, so we will see what happens

Stepdaughter is dying from it as we speak.

The day will come when cancer, and death itself, die in their turn.  I hope He comes back soon.

Wife is currently battling Leukemia. She's between Chemo treatments now. Prognosis is good for now, it's the long term survival rate that has her concerned.

Every day is a battle. It's physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. She's already dealt with thyroid cancer. She figured she had her brush with cancer and that was it. This Leukemia diagnosis came out of left field and has really impacted our lives.

Like others unfortunately we've become familiar with cancer. Lost my Mom an Aunt, several friends.

Every day is hard. Every day she has a moment of sorrow and cries. Staying positive is difficult. I'm trying to do my best, especially for the kids. Some days it just ain't enough.

Prayers out to you guys/gals battling or caring for someone with cancer. And prayers for those of you who have lost someone.

Like someone above said: Live one day at a time, live in the now, in this moment. Make the most of this day.

My wife got breast cancer at 33
our kids were too young to understand why mommys hair was falling out

Doc said because of her young age he was gonna " throw the kitchen sink at her"

lots of chemo and radiation

now 14 years later, its back

11 hour DIEP surgery in march

daughters are teenagers now and fully understand

yesterday was her 12th week of weekly taxol & herceptin chemo

starting next week, it's every 3rd week herceptin til may

both times, she is amazingly strong and positive

no radiation 2nd time around

surgery in march got infected and held things up

she puts a ball cap on and goes to work... Zero fucks given

I never imagined my quiet shy kind loving wife was so incredibly tough and strong

She is my hero

I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Mantle Cell Lymphoma 4 years ago this week. Had R-CHOP, R-DHAP Chemo. Then SKIP BEAM Chemo/Stem cell transplant. In complete remission now.
My youngest brother had Testicular Cancer about15 years ago. Lost his left nut. Doing well now.
My middle brother was diagnosed with stage 2b Prostate Cancer and had a Prostatectomy 2 years ago. Last month he had a Renal Carcinoma and lost about 10% of one kidney. Still recovering.
My father had later stages of Prostate Cancer and radiation treatment for that 5 years ago. He died (at 82) 2 years ago from cardiac bypass problems.
My mother died from Ovarian Cancer. 20 years ago
My brothers and I had DNA testing to see if we were pre disposed to and kinds of cancer. No markers were found for any of us. Go figure.

Fuck Cancer!!!

Prayers for OP's dad in his fight with that damned disease.
