As you can tell by my number of posts, I'm new to this board. I don't know the ins/outs, abbrev.,etc. I met alot of you at BRC, great bunch.Sometimes it's hard to tell if you're serious or not, like yesterday's posts on Cal. gun laws. It seemed kind of heated.

The general consensus was that Cal. sucked & people should flee in droves. I disagree. If our patriots had run in the face of opposition in 1775, we wouldn't have the need or right to discuss any of this. You may not think this is a war, but take a look around. There are bans/abuses going on all over this country.Expect more in the name of security.

If we lose California, we lose 54 electoral votes, two senators, and dozens reps. That is some heavy firepower. The 2nd & 3rd states with the highest elec. votes is 32 & 25.You may think the the E.C. sucks but it elected our last president. How many does your state have? Mine only has 22(the 5th largest).

If the gunowners leave Cal. who will vote pro-gun???? If we know that every election day Cal. will be filling Washington with gungrabbers, then we've lost major ground. The people in Cal. who can stick it out deserve our thanks and support. Stick with it guys, I know it sucks!

P.S.- I'm from Illinois & we may not be far behind.

So what have you done for us lately?

One Demo governor.

Two Demo Senators.

God knows how many Demo Reps.  Including Sanchez and Condit.

A Demo legislature.

Demo mayors of all the large cities.

And you were saying??...

I hope you don't expect a serious discussion here in the General Discussion forum.

The people in California aren't awake yet after their night of depravity. Expect some replies in about 6 hours.

GreenDragon, thanks for the thought. We're trying as best we can, given the environment we have to work in. We have had some successes as of late, most notably the failures of both the .50 BMG ban and the 5-cent bullet tax. But our work is cut out for us. Lately, gun control seems to be a loosing proposition for the liberals, so hopefully this coming election we'll see some changes in our state senate and assembly. We set the lead, so every ban that dies in California is less likely to raise its ugly head in other states.

As for you other guys... [rolleyes]

Yeah, yeah, yeah.  California sucks.  Lets all repeat it.  But what is going on with us is right around the corner for many of you.  Look and Conn. just outlawing AKs, with ARs coming up next.  Sure you people in Texas may be feeling safe, but it is all a matter of time.  BTW, California is a great state, it is only the people in the major cities who suck and screw it up for the rest of us.

That said, sure I would love to be in a free state and buy all the toys I want, but California is my home.  I have a great house, this is where my family and friends are, I'm an hour from the beach and two from the snow.  For dog showing I could hit one to two shows a month with less than an hours drive.  Housing is expensive but we bought relatively cheap and most jobs pay better here.  The weather is great pretty much year round.  No hurricanes, tornadoes, 2 inch hail, blizzards, etc.  And don't tell me about earthquakes, as long as you are on solid ground you are OK.

Life is more than just guns.

OK, we are buying a second home in Nevada eventually.  But of course by that time all the transplants to Vegas will have turned Nevada into California lite.

Well, in Il. we haven't done much.
 Rep. gov(anti-gun)
U.S. Senate 1 Rep, 1 dem (deeply entrenched)
 U.S. House  10 Rep, 10 dem( 6 from Chicago)
 Senate 32 Rep, 27 dem
 House 56 rep, 62 dems

Plus we have a nasty governor's race coming up.Both guys are anti-gun.

Should Il. gun owners leave now, or stick around to make a difference. As you can see by our demographics our electons are crucial, a few votes here a few votes there.

Obviously Cal. isn't that close, but I don't think they should be written off. There's alot of people out there that are either for us or against us. The ones that are against us don't seem to be moving and they'll be the only ones at the ballot box.

All I'm gonna say is; There's only 2 things wrong in CA, Politics and Gun Laws. If that is enough to make you move then its a personal choice. If not enjoy CA, it has a lot to offer. To some that do not share OUR views, CA is a virtual paradise.

The concensus say that CA sucked cause of the high cost of living. Well that depends on where you live. If you live in the northern counties near the OR border, it is cheaper than some places here in TX. Also bear in mind, that the income earned matches the cost of living. SF Bay Area is more expensive than SoCal. Reason median income is $80K up there, whereas median income in SoCal is $45K annually. Also people point out traffic and smog. Traffic is relative, to out of staters, this is impossible to understand. CA commuters this is but a fact of life. I commuted to dntn LA, 65miles away from where I lived for two years. This was just a part of the job. Much like people that live in Jersey and commute to NY. Its all relative. And its all about your preference. Most people talk about CA women as being "fake", "golddiggers", "airhead" etc. Speaking from experience, CA women are the most friendliest and easy going around. Granted we do have airheads and golddiggers. I have been to FL, WA, MS, and now TX. Looks wise, TX women rival CA women. Personality, I think CA wins. Most of the women I have come accross with here in TX have been stuck up, self centered bitches. Most not all, but a good majority. I have come to the conclusion that women here are more confused than any I've met. Again its all relative. People talk about the loss of freedom in CA. there are loss of freedom everywhere. No U-Turn in Chicago, No liquor or porn in some counties in TX and parts of the south, etc. etc.

Bottomline, I can have a laundry list of whats wrong with any state, and feel strongly about it, much like you can have a laundry list for CA. So what does that get us?

Well if we "abandon" CA then what?? we run to AZ or NV? then in time AZ and NV will say "HEY THOSE ANTI GUN LAWS WORKED IN CA... WE CAN DO THAT HERE"

Then what??

Run from there too??

Yeah, our founding fathers would be so proud.

Get the cancer BEFORE it spreads and get out of control.

Um, "As long as your on solid ground your OK"??? I was in Cali for the Northridge earthquake, you telling me nobody died or was seriously injured?? There are only a few states with no natural disasters, NV is one. California is a huge ghetto and it's like 48% illegal aliens, have fun. [@:D]

I was there for the Northridge quake, as well as Loma Prieta.  Most structural damage was done on land that was fill where liquefaction happened.  Death toll in both were minimal compared to tornadoes or hurricanes, which are much more frequent.  Loma Prieta hit HARD, but the cost in total damages was much less than say, Hurricane Andrew.

As for ghetto and aliens, any major state has that.  Look at Texas for cripes sake.  And ghetto is where you go.  And frankly, with the beach, mountains and snow, I do have a lot of fun. [:)]

That coming from a Las Vegas resident! HA! You have a service enconomy my friend! Las Vegas WILL become the Los Angeles of Nevada, and in a few years people will be calling that city a shithole and the ruin of Nevada. Mark my words.

Republican politicians are STUPID! The Demoncraps have figured out that Latinos, African-Americans and gays will NEVER, EVER vote for a Republican. Illegal aliens are allowed to vote without question, even though it's against the law, and nobody has ever been prosecuted for voter fraud. Demoncraps have a good reason to never stop illegal imigration - assured votes for Demoncrapic party. California will be continue to be a Demoncrapic party ruled state unless the Republican leadership gets smart.

I'm not trying to bust yer ballz, but from my vantage point the outcomes of the two measures you mentioned hardly look like success to me.  From here, it looks like you guys are in a few shallow depressions, low on ammo, and looking at another human wave attack to appear at any moment.  I pray it all turns out OK, but it looks pretty grim from here.

How can the defeat of California's proposed ban on .50 BMG rifles not be considered a success? The failure of that bill denies Feinstein and her cronies the impetus to promote .50 BMG bans in the other states. To me, that is a great success.

Methinks you had better be spending your time wisely in trying to save the land of Lincoln,as that of collogen and silicone.

I have lived there, and have sisters, nieces and nephews native of the state.  I quess if you have a city built on tar pits, and the andrias fault you might expect a little movement now and then.

I've been a lot of places, and we all have to be from or going to one,but Cali is just not on my list as of now. Maybe you can get Arnold for mayor, some of those Baldwin boys for state henchmen, bet you could get Ben Affluk for DA.

I hear Janett Grand Slamn Reno is looking for a place to hang his hat(don't know if Florida will go for it though).   Anyway like Doris Day said give me your unwanted masses.

There are lots of really good people in Cali, just don't know how we can help them.
